This is one hell of a bunker.....Just a bit out of my price range.

I live on a cattle farm in pretty rural area of MS. As more people move closer my wife and I worry more about break ins and such. Also we live on the top of a hill and in the last two years we have had two tornados within a week of Christmas that have been a little to close to home. My question...

So, I've noticed shows like Doomsday Prepper's with people using shipping containers as underground shelters for a shtf situation and did some looking online about it. I found a few links that say NOT to do this. Just thought I would bring up the topic and see what everyone thought about it. Any...

The things you find on youtube; listening to the narrator it's my impression that they have gone through members over the years re. bedrooms " 'decorated by former occupants' " , but what an effort. I am impressed. Lots of ideas brewing already....Enjoy!

Just wondering how everyone else treats the outside of their bunker before they bury them in the ground?
  6. Disaster Preparedness General Discussion I could get lost in there "Exploring" and never come out. I doubt if 120 feet below ground is enough to survive a direct hit from a 1 megaton ground burst, though... and you can be sure the Russians knew *exactly* where that thing was, and had it...

Has anyone tried using 40' water/milk tankers as a bunker? I found an old one on CL for $500 delivered. The axles are trashed but the tank holds pressure. Just a thought.

OK I am looking for suggestions, designs and ect... I am a poor so I cannot afford all these underground shelters... What I am looking for is a bunker that I can store supplies, and additonally house a couple of people when needed and have an addition for a root cellar. Majority of the time...

This seems like a really bad idea to me. If people want you out of your bunker all they have to do is cut off your air supply. Being undwerground doesn't appeal to me anyway. I am claustrophobic to the max degree.

A friend of mine wants to build an underground sHipping crate shelter. He's seen several designs here and on other websites and he is trying to get a fix of what it will really cost him to do it. If he just looks at the base cost of buying two 30 foot shipping containers lining them with...

Companies that sell above ground, premade, NBC bunker. We have considered some options for "creating" something indoors but in pricing what we could do on our own, I think we would save money (and of course time) with something prefab. Looking for East Coast, small and inexpensive. Thanks...

Hello, unexperienced person here... we had a 6x10x6ft high concrete storm shelter buried in our yard this week. it is covered by about 18-20" of dirt. The concrete is almost a foot thick on all sides and roof. It has a large metal door entrance on top and 2 "whirly birds" for air ventilation...

I found this site. It's for a company that builds bomb shelters. They have lots of good pictures and a downloadable pdf book that tells a lot about the shelters they build. The book and site give a good deal of construction details. Useful to someone thinking of building their own. One could...

I have mixed feelings about this one. They want you to register your shelter but state that you need a permit to build one. If you register a non-permited shelter, could it be condemned?
  16. Disaster Preparedness General Discussion
So I have always been really big into survival and end of the world scenarios and lately as I get older I feel the need to start to prepare. I have watched a lot of shows/movies and read plenty of books but literally my best ideas and goals seem to be, lets say, unreachable. I am buying a nice...

I've read how China, Russia and others have made the building of their shelters for their citizens PUBLIC.I would like to know why we aren't doing the same! Heck, we're not even discussing it!!!! I'm pretty sure they have spots reserved for those who are "important" enough or have enough...

Has anyone built a small underground home two levels high? 600 square feet would be all I need, but it would be nice to have a lower basement level to store food and my hobby, beer, because they will stay fresher, longer for extended periods of time. I presume drainage issues might be an...
