Default 80% Lower Question

Advertise Here

Why are 80% lowers more expensive than stripped lowers? I can pick up stripped lowers for under $50 and 80% are $60+ Not including shipping. Doesn’t seem right. Are the quality of the 80% lowers that much better?

Because people will buy them out of fear rather than practicality/people will pay for it.

I'd say cost is higher because demand is lower for 80% vs stripped lowers. Those that want 80% lowers are willing to pay a premium for the product vs going through an FFL or registering.

Other than anonymity there is no good reason to do an 80% build?

People think a 4473 is tracking them

But even if you pay with a credit card for an online product you have a way to be tracked.

Yes.

People are stupid.

I guess (iF bought for cash) there's some utility in a state without Pvt transfers.

but you should just leave.

I purchased some 80's and the milling process was beyond my capability and I ended up throwing away scrap aluminum. I just don't understand how others have lost theirs in a boating accident.

Might as well just get a regular lower, buying an 80% doesn’t mean anything anymore. Google Ares Armor, the ATF demanded their customer list of people who bought 80% lowers. Ares Armor got a restraining order against the ATF, which the ATF violated and raided Ares Armor. They took any lowers that were there and took their customer list, so if a law is ever passed outlawing “ghost guns” they know exactly who to see to get the lowers that Ares sold.

Personally I think they screwed their customers. If you provide a service like that you know privacy is a concern for your customers, and if they made out all the receipts to cash they would have had no customer list to take

with an 80% you are paying for the luxury of not having to have it shipped to an FFL, not paying the FFL charges, not doing the background check, and not having it registered.

seriously, an 80% should be about half what a regular one costs, a simple forging is cheaper to produce than taking that same forging and machining it, coating it, etc. but there is obviously more profit as the market will gladly pay for that benefit alone.

Sounds cool. Love to see the final result as well as the process you use. They make a 20% lower as well iirc, if you want to "cheat" only a little. Is everyone supposed to only enjoy what you enjoy or is it only for firearm related things? Let me know cause I'll have to stop enjoying building things with wood too.

I think if you look for the sales you can find them cheaper, or at least you used to be able too, Just find a buddy that's less paranoid than you are to order a bunch.

you guys are putting way to much thought into it, and thats exactly what they want you to do. lol I think its funny.

Its a million times easier to track you CC purchase than it is to get 4473 form the ATF saying who has what. ATF is designed to be a non searchable database. CC purchases are not. ATF is bound by federal law not to have a searchable database.

Plus if your that worried about it buy off of a local gun trader site. Then you dont have to worry about 80% vs stripped, FFL, shipping CC purchase records.

besides by the time they get to confiscation so many alarms and "redflags" will be set off. theyd have to shut down social medial, phones and internet completely because the as soon as people start telling the nation they are confiscating, everything will literally disappear.

r.
Since when have they followed the law?

There was a video posted on FAL FILES a while back. They showed the "non searchable" 4 473's on computer.

Even I know it's searchable from that look.
