Default President Trump Has Proposed Buying Greenland

Advertise Here

In a deal similar to Alaska. President Trump proposes that the USA purchase Greenland from Denmark. I like the idea personally. I think he should also absorb Alberta and Saskatchewan into the USA as well. By doing this the Yukon could later be acquired and Alaska would be connected directly to the lower 48. Alberta alone has the 3 rd largest proven oil reserves in the world. Smart future play for the USA. With the population of the USA more space is needed.

And with what does he propose we pay for Greenland? We're trillions of dollars in debt now.

Dude, it's Greenland... we can get it for $87 and a couple boxes of Trump steaks...

And what leads you to believe the Canadians are totally going to put Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the Yukon up for sale?

Why? I mean, Why? What resources does Greenland have? Does Denmark really want to unload it? Do we need anymore socialists?

It is behind a paywall, so I can't read the article.

They don't have to. Any Canadian province can legally secede from Canada and Canadian provinces are specifically permitted to apply for admission to the union. Alberta would be an excellent addition. It is probably the most "conservative" province in Canada and is self supporting.

Well the USA could easily take over Alberta and Saskatchewan. Heck the USA burned through 6 Trillion in never ending wars, go after Canada militarily, western Canadians would probably say let's go. In fact I read somewhere that the largest ever number of immigrants in history into Alberta were Americans at the end of the Civil War. Canada is more broke than the USA. Militarily Canada could do nothing. The Marines alone could take over Canada. Canada has a very small military. Navy for a country with 36,000 miles of coastline is one of the smallest in the world. If you go to war at least get some territory. You probably would not even have to fight.

And why would those Canadian provinces want to join the United States?

Although Alberta has had a separatist movement for over 100 years, that idea doesn't seem plausible at this time.

Alberta is the most conservative place in NA. They have 26 MP's and consistently sent around 24 Conservatives to Ottawa. Alberta is just slightly smaller than Texas and has way more resources. And a population of about 4 M 2M or more live in the 2 cities of Edmonton and Calgary. It was American money and know how that developed Alberta oil.

Greenland has a massive fishery, and is the eastern gate to the Arctic.

First, the United States' has more debt than Canada's. Second, why would the United States declare war on Canada? None of this seems well thought out or interested in any potential ramifications. Anyhoo, we can stick to discussing the acquisition of Greenland.

Well, we don't have a shortage of maple syrup, so why would we want to take over part of Canada?
