I think there is plenty quality content and plenty of survival discussion.
I also think a variety of 'non survival' topics is par for the course. This is s community of 'like minded' folks, and at least some of us value the opinions (on various matters) of others among us. Discussing among our peers daily topics is a quality of its own
I have no twitter, no face book, no picture poster thing. This is the extent of my socializing online, so signing up or liking as a requirement is not going to happen.
A few months ago I received the TG06S from Thorefire there was a give away here that "if selected" all you had to do was write a review, post it here which I did "link below" and they liked it and asked me to post it to another link they supplied, which I did with no issues. The customer rep I interacted with was very professional and a pleasure to deal with. It is still my EDC pocket light for the reasons in my review.
I would be willing to do reviews such as this with just about any gear. I would also go into even deeper depth and do detailed pictures depending on the item if selected again. This type of set up I had no issues with signing up for.
I went in to vote, but the poll was closed. Did give my opinion.
I do not participate in many of the contests, so do not pay much attention to them. Mostly because they are seldom for the types of products in which I have an interest. And usually when they are, the items are not the ones I would prefer.
But I will try to participate more often to help generate the interest.
I don't participate in the contests because... well, I'm a mod and don't want to take away from our members chances or do anything that would seem unfair (like a mod winning a contest)
Well after I did the one above. Thorefire came to me outside of SB and had me do another. So you can do some and not conflict I believe and me personally would like to see some volunteers get some items to review as a site perk, as long as it made its way to the masses as well.
I was participating in the contests until I realized I was signing up for tons of junk mail and apparently having my email address sold. I stopped because of the aggravation. Sounds a bit strong, but that's what happened..
