Im thinking of getting a tactical vest to use as a secondary BOB
I would wear this with my vulture 2 pack and if I had to ditch my pack I would still have some basic survival stuff on me.
Now not being military I have no idea what kind of vest would work and what kind of price Im looking at.
Ideas please.

The Eagle TacV1N and Blackhawk Omega are pretty versatile. Galls has a copy as well. You didn't say what weapon system you have but it doesn't matter with them. It will take magazines from any 9mm/45 subgun, 223/5.56, 7.62 x 39, .308 and the same pouches hold a handgun, radio, flashlight/sticks, other items. You can also add to them.

Active Shooter Chest rigs are pretty good also.

Molle vests are great if you can afford to set it up the way you want. Expect to pay $300 +.

Here are some good ones. Eagle makes the best in my opinion but there are others that work just as well:

I went looking and here are some great deals.

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=137142361

Either of those vests will accept all major miltary rifle magazines, most any handgun, pistol mags, radio, camelback compatible, backpack compatible and they can adjust to fit over or under heavy clothing and armor.

I dont have a weapon/gun as I live in canada and Im a Brit , although I would love to be able to have gun freedom as in the states.
I was looking at a vest more as another layer of equipment if I were to lose my pack with all the gear.
I guess in a SHTF situation if I came across a gun that would be an option.
So Im guessing a vest I can rig with pouches for other gear carry.
thanks

Are you talking about a "gun guy" vest like the sigtac or a load bearing chest rig type vest?

That sigtac looks good and the price is nice but Botach terrifies me... they have HORRIBLE customer service.

If you want a chest rig style then you really can't beat Eagle's SKD line

From his description it sounds to me like he's looking for a pocket oriented vest to carry BOB type supplies, not just ammo. Hence my suggestion. The SigTac makes for a good doodad carrying vest

Okay, I did this last spring and basically you want the Woolrich Elite vest. I tried on 5.11-too heavy, sigtac-weak, I can go completely pack-free for 72 hours with this http://www.woolricheliteseriestactic.../elitevest.htm

My setup with it: four AR15 mags(outside forward pockets), A Glock 21 (inside chest pocket) and two spare mags(opposite inside chest pocket), Complete first aid kit(exterior lumbar pocket), four one liter bottles of water(two pockets on either side of lumbar pocket), sureflire flashlight leatherman wave and fox 40 whistle (right outside chest pocket), 50' parachord on carabiner, signal mirror, and map compass(left outside chest pocket), cigarette pack size tinder kit (right upper chest pocket), 4" folding knife, space pen, and small mace canister(left upper chest pocket).

This leaves the top half of back clear for any pack you want, all pockets secured closed, and hand pockets still available. *tip- put a rollypoly on either of the side adjustment straps.

I like the ones with a cross draw holster, don't ask me why not like I currently need it.
Guess I'm just a Backup gun for the backup gun in case the backup gun and primary gun are not functional kinda guy.

This US based guy sells Arktis vests, the 1624 SAR Vest might suit you.

stores.shop.ebay.com.au/ArktisUSA__W0QQ_armrsZ1

I bought a 1600 Combat Vest in woodland camo off him earlier this year, it's a beaut.
