Default Obama opens mouth, gun prices soar

Checking gunbroker it seems Colt 6920s have gone from $850 - $900 to around $1,200 to as high as $2,500.

Not as bad as after sandy hook but the price gouging is underway.

At the George R Brown Houston gun show January 2 I saw a truckload of Colt 6920s for less than $900. One guy had PSA D&H 30 round magazines for $20. He was spouting the typical "get them while you can" nonsense.

When I got home saturday I ordered 5 Troy battle mags for $6.99 each.

From what I am seeing some of the reputable dealers are not price gouging.

Buds gun shop prices look good.
Atlantic firearms prices look good.
Guns America $1,100.00 for a plain jane Colt 6920 with no magpul furniture. Was probably $850 before obama opened his mouth.
Impact guns Colt 6920 priced at $1,019.88. No magpul furniture.
Grab a gun Colt 6920 for $958.81, no magpul furniture. I think that price is high but fair.
Tomb stone tactical Colt SP6920MP-B SP6920 with magpul furniture for $1154.40. I saw almost the exact same rifle at the GRB gunshow for around $900 - $950.

I just checked Kentucky Gun Co just because I had looked at something there recently for a friend who was looking for an AR. A S&W MP15 Sport is still $609.99 -- no change.

and then certain organizations sell more subscriptions and get filthy rich.. cant help but wonder if the "pro gun" organizations enjoy if not support the constant threat of gun control as a means to sell more membership and make more money

Not really sure why there would be a rush on firearms that you would get from a dealer right now. If anything I would expect Armslist to be going bonkers with people looking to get a few private sales in before the new ATF agents try and start the clamp down.

If you're not ALREADY sitting on a small personal arsenal, chances are you deserve what's coming (i.e. being the victim of price gouging, not the REALLY bad stuff).

The writing has been on the wall for the last 7 years. It's been written in neon with blaring sirens for the last 3.

Sellers can only gouge buyers willing to be gouged.

The NRA and most of the others are whores just like the politicians. They need and crave all the drama, just as they do, and it does make them millions.

Not me. And they dont do near enough.

Maybe if they sold off all those fancy offices, and fired all those worthless high dollar mouthpieces, and took that money, and bought the votes needed to get things done, we might get somewhere. But then what would they have to do? No, they need the drama.

Quote:

Exactly.

Its not like this is something new, and at all a surprise.

I saw a number of people here who bought AR's for way to much back after Sandy Hook, who later sold/traded them at a loss later on.

Im betting they buy their own guns (the ones that have been sitting on the racks since they were traded back in) back here pretty quick, and they will pay to much again.

Well, sort of. There are certainly those who do take advantage, and its pretty obvious. Then again, those who do get caught up in it, generally arent those of us who are at this all the time.

The market has a funny way of catering to all types, consumers that have done their homework usually get a better deal.

I agree.

However...even though my bases are covered...I still get annoyed by panics when I realize I want to get (insert whatever I want at that time) and it has become unavailable or stupid expensive.

Heck, Obama's decrees don't even really change things that much.

If a full swing panic happens, screw it...I'll sell my WASR for 2000 bucks.

In a few weeks it will all blow over. This is typical pee the pants reactions and the fact remains that nothing will ever come of Oboingo's idiotic, feeble attempts to act like a miniature narco squad nazi gun grabbing hypocrite. More firearms have been sold in the last two years because of his belligerent oral bowel movements than the last 20 years.

The idiot in chief is simply a naive buffoon.

So they are going to attempt to ban person to person sales? and do what if they bust someone selling to a felon?

A while back a Cop was shot in Omaha NE. The gun used in the murder was purchased legally and then given to a known convicted felon.

You know what they sentenced the buyer who knowingly gave a handgun to a scumbag she knew was a felon? 5 years probation.

Obama has turds for brains. Thousands of felons are walking the streets with guns....Where is the executive order to shake those scumbags down and get them off the streets? "Crickets Chirping".

Evil doesn't exist because of Evil people, it exists because the Government is too cowardly to allow the victims of their evil to neutralize the scumbags.

I'm glad I've bought enough .22 to last my lifetime.

I can't wait to hear people complain about how they can't get it...especially the ones I TOLD to get it when the prices were good.

I wonder how many people who got caught up in the 2013 buying frenzy are ready to re-enter the fray. Stupid is as stupid does, but a lot of folks got hosed and may not have the $ (or willingness) to get a double dose of overpayment.

I purchased case lots in '93. I became worried in '08, so I went into the local Walmart one night and bought everything on the shelves that I could use. The cart must have weight 400 lbs because it almost took two people to push it out of the store.

We've had ample warning, so no one should be without ammo.

This may be true of the willfully ignorant, but keep in mind that there are those who couldn't buy over that period of time. Be it age (18 or 21, depending) or finances or state of residence, some folks may not have been in a position to start on that personal arsenal. Just sayin'.

But yes, for those who have already seen the effects of Obama-induced panic during previous cycles, there's no excuse for doing nothing and then complaining when guns and/or ammo are hard to come by.
