Default Best Hand Crank / Solar Lantern Avaliable?

Just looking for some input. I would like to get a couple of hand crank / solar emergency lanterns. I've looked at several, but most have mixed reviews, at best.

Would like the input from ppl on this forum ... and links, please.

You just don't generate that much power from a hand crank. Even the really good ones take too much effort to produce any usable power for any real duration.

Better off with solar panels.

Take a look at the ones that are the "all in one" units that have usb chargers and such. You have to crank hard for 15-20 minutes to get 1 minute of usable cell phone usage.

Ideally, I would like a unit that has both. I already have an emergency radio with solar panel adequate for charging, along with an emergency flashlight.

What I am looking for is the best option for a solar powered table top lantern with a hand crank back-up.

Coleman makes one thats supposedly reliable, but I dont have it so I dont know.

You might also want to do some research on this "SolaDyne" one:
Amazon.com: SolaDyne Table Top LED Lantern:... cover
Amazon.com: SolaDyne Table Top LED Lantern:...
Again, I dont own it so I dont know if its any good or not.

Personally I have a AA light with a solar charger as I think the combo is more versatile (though more expensive).

Great lantern, we have a new model coming out soon, with updated technology inside. It is basically the same machine, with the updates. More to follow.

I have had several hand crank lamps, and by far the best is Garrity.
The batteries take charge very well and hold it a long time, versis several other brands .
Haven't taken it apart to see what brand battery they use, but I have had it several years now and it still works like new.
The internal is Ni-Mi, and the alternate is 3-AA of any thing you like or an external 12 volt source.
There is a port as well, for external out put, I believe for cell phone charging.
it has an AM FM radio that is very strong.
The lights Have a red flasher as well as completely dimmable white lights.
the hanger is metal and dependable .
I believe I paid $35 or $40 but it is worth $50 compared to any thing else I have seen available.
I have given away most of the others I have gotten ,and kept this one .
The only thing that could make it better is a USB port, but an adaptor cord works just as well.
Every time I walk the stores, I search the lights to see if another is available, or something better, but not yet.
