After watching the "Walking Dead" on AMC, it seems as though the producers will be working us over pretty good (the contest entry word that was kept secret until the end of the episode was 'survival' to name an example).

Regardless of your thoughts on zombies in general, what relevant scenes, themes or ideas can be drawn from the show so far? I see a lot. Here's a few:

1) Guns! The sherriff stock piled quite a few on his trip to Atlanta. He also made mention of conserving ammo, as it goes "faster than you think."

2) Gas...it will be rare, and valuable.

3) Cities = no good. Just look how they protrayed Atlanta

4) Rebuild society. As evidenced by the main character's words in a sneak peak of next weeks episode, "Don't kill the living!"

1)Horses can make a great diversion if your attacked by zombies
2)Don't fire a hand cannon inside a tank.

OK why the uniform?

I would think BDU's would be more comfortable and durable. Better at night too.

and loose the shiny badge if they can see then you might as well hang a flashlight around your neck.

OH and there were no M-16 in that LEO station?

This guy is learning about zombies the hard way.

I was wondering if anyone caught the propane at the jail for the hot showers.

And a six shooter is fine.....so long as you have a tank for a back-up. He did get a Beretta off the guy in the tank....lol

Was that a Remmi 770 he handed to the other guy.....?

Its what he was, and who he is. Training and a small measure of control in the chaos.

Or... it looks cool.

Since the headshot is the only thing that can take them out, .22 cal is what should work the best - quite, low recoil and you can carry thousands of rounds in a backpack. Something reliable such as a bolt action rifle with a scope and a Ruger or two with a bunch of mags should be ideal.

He also had a bunch of other guns in the bag that he dropped when he fell off the horse. He was trying to get them back before he was forced into the tank.

Very much enjoyed the premiere. Most of the things I noticed are preached on here time and time again, but nice to see them 'in action':

1. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. As evidenced by Rick loosing the bag with all the guns and ammo in it after he fell off the horse. All he was left with was his 6 bullets.

2. Communication. Seeing the use/attempted use of the CBs makes you realize how much having valuable communication could change your situation. If Rick doesn't meet Morgan, he would have no idea what happened nor would he have known where to go.

lol.........not around here. Our little police force carries Glock 40's. Maybe some off the beaten path LEO's carry the old S&W 357's....I don't know.

I should clarify.....I meant was that a Remmi 770 he handed the other guy at the police station?

I'm fairly sure I did see an m16/ar15 right in the middle of the rack when the camera was looking through the gun rack at the main character and he was pulling guns off of it.

I did too, but I cannot say he was packing one in his duffel bag. and who doesn't figure the mileage to Atlanta and fills the can or several cans with gas and puts them in the back of his car??

Time to email the shows producer and smack them around a bit.....

BTW lesson to be learned, if you come across any place, and I mean any place where military gear is abandoned (a tank and 50 cal belt fed machine guns are good indicators) you need to gtfo. The military doesn't just leave tanks and 50 cals around unless something really really bad happened there.

And they wouldn't still be there unless it was because something had no use for them, aka undead. If it was insurgents they would procure the gear and add it to their arsenal.

Also, stealth. I'm not Solid Snake nor Big Boss but this guy has no idea how to go low profile. Keep low, hide and weave between cars/walls. Out of sight out, out of mind...at least when it comes to zombies.
