Kind of funny, but not really. A relative traded a nice old Allis Chalmers for 3 grand in cash and for gold and “silver coin”. They called me to make an offer on the coin because they weren’t going to sit on ‘em. Turns out the coins were the one dollar presidentials and Sacs. I told him to cash out at the bank. He held back some “Susan B’s” that were silver. I told him they were also worth a buck.

My LCS is paying $7 x face on junk silver today. I was ready to pay ten. Bummer.

I had taken my dirt fishing rod to hunt his older property, and dug a well worn US large cent in the front yard under a huge old pine. Matron bust so about 1800-1830. Told him to soak in veg oil for a week or two and gently clean. He got a kick out of the old coin.

Does anyone suppose the improved economy resulting in people having more discretionary money is the reason for the price increases?

I know for myself I have a faxed buying period and product. Then when I have extra I buy more.

That says PM price increases are not driven by fear of the economy but confidence in the economy.

Anyone I am a more motivated buyer and economic collapse is not why.

Purely a trend
Less than a dime from $16
We should be careful in choosing words
Market flucations are not freakish by definition
There are underlying causes that explain the trends, up or down or sideways
The causes may or may not be rational

We are discussing silver not Lead...
The market has been stagnant
Agreed
And it would need to get north of $17 to matter to me as it is still trading within its 52 week high/low

52 Week Low 13.95 USD/ozt 52 Week High 16.07 USD/ozt ...

Gold is more impressive

52 Week Low 1,176.50 USD/ozt 52 Week High 1,422.85

Now at $1,427
Good for you Gold

Silver has began taking the lead with the GSR dropping from 94-1 back to 88.66-1 in the last week.

Silver ask $16.16.

To me this should indicate a bull market where silver should out preform gold.

I think a lot of us thought silver should be trading between $16 and $17 long ago.

Can someone explain to me why it wasn't but is now?

Clearly my reasoning was wrong.

Silver has been a bitter mistress and an inscrutable enigma wrapped in a riddle for me, as they say.

No, seriously, there is an incentive for some of the big institutional investors to keep a lid on silver
In the end, no one sits silver in the corner
