Interesting development but
Can't find the name of Jesus or mention of the savior in any of this so-called covenant.

Good thing bad thing.....Comments?

Well, no mention of Jesus the Christ, except in the comments section.

I'm skeptical.

Sad. Maybe the pope doesn't know its ok for a muzzy to lie to a non muzzy. Hopefully he will be the first to loose his head for not converting.

So What's the Big Deal?

How does this covenant push us closer to a one world religion?

I find it troubling that the following quote was included in the "covenant".

"The pluralism and the diversity of religions, colour, sex, race and language are willed by God in His wisdom, through which He created human beings."

While I agree that whatever is on this Earth, good or bad, was the will of God, that shouldn't be construed to mean that there is parity among all religions. That's not Biblical, it's a version of moral relativism.

Google it. To most of the Sunni world he's the "Pope" of Sunnis.

"The Grand Imam of al-Azhar (Arabic: الإمام الأكبر), also known as Grand Sheikh of al-Azhar (Arabic: شيخ الأزهر الشريف), currently Ahmed el-Tayeb, is a prestigious Sunni Islam title and a prominent official title in Egypt.[1] He is considered by some Muslims to be the highest authority in Sunni Islamic thought and Islamic jurisprudence[2] and holds a great influence on followers of the theological Ash'ari and Maturidi traditions worldwide."

If you don't construe it as such, why are you troubled?

The foundation of Christianity is Jesus as savior, son of god.
Islam states God has no son, The two are irreconcilable unless one converts to the other.

How do these considerations and that of the covenant relate to pushing us closer to a one-world religion?

This is ecumenicalism. Getting different faiths to agree each is OK and even beginning to worship together.

How this pushes toward a one world religion is that every religion will be OK except for true Christianity, because it is the only path to God thru Jesus Christ. It wont matter what you believe. All beliefs will be rolled into one religion, kind of like Universal Unitarianism is now only more encompassing.

Eventually the Catholic Church leaders will reduce the importance of believing in Jesus Christ until the official church position will be Jesus is not necessary for salvation.

This attitude will hold until the Anti-Christ and False Prophet come on the scene and begin to use miracles and super persuasive ability to convince people to take the mark to be able to do business and buy /sell (under sentence of death). The whole world will fall in love with the Anti-Christ and then he will demand their worship.

I thought it was interesting in a sick way. The two main factions of Islam are still fighting, people of Christian faith are still being killed with very little news coverage, and Scripture is not all warm and fuzzy about false gods.

From where do you get all this nonsense about the Catholic Church's leaders and doctrine?

Its just a surmise from what the Pope and the Imam are doing. My two cents on how the meeting is the beginning of a one world religion. If it happens it will be in the future. I think all the world's religions will succumb to this idea
of everyone getting along and accepting everybody's beliefs. The only reason I specified the Catholic leaders was because the OP was about the Pope and the Imam initiating the meeting and the agreement. Any true Christians will be persecuted by the one world leaders. We are seeing the media and governments worldwide beginning it now.

Revelations does indicate these things will come to pass.
