Default When was the last time you cleaned your gas mask out?

So I decided to do a spot gas mask drill just to see how long I would be comfortable in it, and insure I could still put it on at a moments notice. What I soon found out is that due to work in the building that included grinding of tiles/cement etc.. I had gotten enough fine particles in the mask that my eyes became irritated after a few minutes of wearing the mask. I soon discovered that it was long overdue to be cleaned out.

When was the last time you cleaned or inspected your gasmask/filter health expiry etc..?

A few days ago after we deployed 96 ounces of OC and 5 CS grenades on a tier full of rioting inmates. Had to have that on for an hour and a half.

My avatar..

I would wear mine several times a week. Cleaned and put away each time. Prior to use a quick look over, seal fit test and replace cartridges.

Quarterly a complete break down clean inspect and replace valves as needed. Also would do quarterly particulate counts to vet seal. They are stored in heavy double spline plastic.

Over the years have acquired about 10 masks, as styles changed, or they failed the extreme requirements for testing.

Worked with NH3
