Default Felt from mushrooms.

I stumbled across the idea of making felt from tinder fungus that grows on birch trees. I did a search for it and found this video.

it shows the beginning steps of making a fabric from the mushrooms. I can't find out how it is further processed to join two pieces together but it is quite interesting and I think I am going to be on the lookout for tinder fungus the next time I get out in the woods to give it a try myself.

I though others here may find it interesting as well.

If you are interested, this is the video that got me looking into it, the hat he is wearing is made from the mushroom.

It just boggles my mind when people are so creative to come up with something like this.On a related note,Townsends old style cooking channel has a recepie for "mushroom ketchup"which is more like a worchestershire sauce I want to try.

I have wanted to try Townsend mushroom ketchup recipe ever since I first heard of I. I have a friend who makes large batches of some mushroom ketchup every year. I never tried it but he says it is good.

The felt mushrooms are horsehoof mushrooms:

There are a few places online that sell the hats but they're a bit too "Swiss" or European looking for my tastes.
