Gastropolis.

Figures.

(I live near Charlotte on the opposite side. Thankfully.)

Number of guns and amount of ammo - I have no problem with.

Screwing around with explosives and IED's - not good.

I don't think it was the guns and ammo that got them in trouble. I don't believe there's a limit. The army gear is sold surplus, so thats not it. But working on explosives is a whole other issue. Guess on the guns and gear there could be some kind of conspiracy charge if they can show intent.

Now that I mentioned it, could some LEO's comment on the quantity of guns and ammo? I've always wondered when a big deal is made out of it, but if purchased legally??

Pipe bombs and IED's? Man, talk about waving a flag around saying "come and get me!"

Sounds like the only thing they have them on is explosives. The straw purchase will be hard to prosecute if it never happened.

I love <sarcasm> how the article makes it sound like stockpiling guns and ammo is a crime. And that somehow .338 is illegal.

Obviously they bragged to the wrong people about the explosive side of the issue.

The details are sketchy, and even suspicious. I don't see any mention of how many guns or how much ammo was purchased, and the items that ARE mentioned are legal to buy. Except the gun for a convicted felon (what was he convicted of?).

But if the main charge that these men were preparing for martial law by trying to construct homemade explosives is true, I say to the authorities, "Well done". One of the LAST things I want are a bunch of delusional whack-jobs running around with pipe bombs and grenades thinking the government is going to send in tanks any second, and that they're going to play Rambo in response. They might decide to make pre-emptive strikes and start blowing up 'gubber-ment" agents, or those they thought worked for the government. This has been tried before. As Rocket J. Squirrel says, "That trick NEVER works."

These reports are hyped with bias that owning more than and acceptable amount of ammo or weapons is treasonous. It is also possible that the IED charge is trumped up by components these fellas had on hand, and those charges imagined as well. If you have an empty wine bottle, dish rags and gasoline stored for you lawntractor, you too could be thinking of making an IED.

The charge leveled could be a type of payback, who knows. If it is true, and I am not condoning it, I understand one wanting to have an advantage with improvised weapons.
We still live in a nation of laws, even though our governments choose which ones they will enforce. We need to be sober in our thinking and remember that.

If you are not White, IED is a set of letters that don't spell any word you recognize and you can play all you want with anything you want...if you are White, then thinking about mixing two or more items of any type calls for deportation to an unnamed cuban base and erasure of your existence...even if its just coffee and milk...(deadly)

That is because criminals are breaking laws.

Naah, I think anything less than a truck bomb is a "micro-aggression".

But I could have that wrong....
