So it is time to get more serious about loosing my GUTT 280lbs at 6'0ft.
I own and run a bicycle shop. I must lead by example, don't you all think? I have been cycling in around town and I am Currently doing between 12-17mile round trips. Encouragement is what I will need, so I am going to post my blog here so you all can read. If want to join please feel free.
always thought because of the relative efficiency of a bicycle it's hard to lose weight riding one - good luck and don't be one of 'those guy' cyclists that get in the way of cars
I did the same about a year before I turned 40. Sitting at a desk doing paperwork had turned me soft. I started with bicycle, added weight lifting, lost 40 lbs of fat, then gained 25 lbs of muscle.
I'll be following along, been wanting to get a bike for some time.
Its said millions of times, but worth repeating...your diet is the biggest factor on you body composition. The biking will help obviously, just as any other activity that gets you moving, increases the heart rate, and basically prevents you from eating while doing it...and is done consistently. Something to keep in mind, the potential down side of any increased exercise is an increase in hunger...if your diet is not so great and you eat more, it may offset the exercise.
How are you planning your goals? Do you pick out a certain amount of miles per week and aim for that?
