why was this such a shock to the airport managers.

i have not heard or seen the offical stuff just the rhubarb spread on the news and press.

but a £30 toy grounded a whole multi million pound airport and caused millions in damages and lost flights!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

how simple do you have to get??

what cracked me up is that the security manager at Gatwick did a lecture on this very subject this summer gone and his best device to prevent it was a strongly worded sign<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< WTF was that man thinking

could you imagine how many eco warriers sent santa a letter asking for a drone for christmas ready for heathrow airport next year. you could literary bankrupt an airport by doing this, delaying flights and crippling insurance legal court cases from upset customers

Itís a relatively new problem which will take a while to get sorted out. Hard to fault the airport for trying to find some way to mitigate the issue.
What happens if some twat flies their drone into the path of an aircraft, the drone gets sucked into an engine and the plane crashes?
Then, given how many sinister people are in the world, suppose itís done intentionally? How about a fleet of drones launched at once? Maybe some carrying some bio weapon. Sounds like science fiction (or lunacy) but it is the world we now live in. I put nothing past the possibility of nut jobs bent on causing chaos, death, and destruction.

There can only be to explanations for drones near airports. One the person flying the drone is a psychopath wanting to cause mass death. Two the person flying the drone is dumber than dog dirt.

the israelies have had anti drone devices for years, in fact its there designed systems the british army used at Gatwick recently. ok so you cant plan for every terrorist or eco warrier attack, we could not with the irish or isis or any others. but it seams a daft idea not to have air ports protected with anti drone systems, you have a fence on the ground why not one in the air.
