Since a lot of people come to this site for information and education, I thought it might be a good idea to share some training and educational resources regarding the subjects of radiation, radiological, and nuclear issues.

There's nothing secret or special about any of the resources I'm sharing here. A few carefully worded internet searches will provide you with a tremendous number of online courses, webinars, textbooks, etc... to the point to where most people will feel overwhelmed.

As much as I've thought about going through many of these resources and categorizing them, rating them, and creating an "unofficial Survivalist Boards Radiological Curriculum"... I just don't have that kind of time at the moment. However, I can give you a place to start:

IS-3: Radiological Emergency Management is a good place to start your education.
Emergency Management Institute - Independent Study (IS) | Course Overview

or, if you prefer a pseudo-textbook approach...
IS-301 Radiological Emergency Response (PDF-Texbook-based)
Emergency Management Institute - Independent Study (IS) | Course Overview

Finally, for those who prefer a video/seminar approach...
Understanding Radiation Video Series: https://orise.orau.gov/reacts/resources/radiation-videos.aspx

The above three resources are an excellent primer on the basics. You'll learn about the difference between contamination and radiation, types of radiation, measuring radiation, biological effects, etc.

Other resources:

There’s an excellent list of training sites here:

The FEMA independent study website has a number of courses:
Emergency Management Institute - Independent Study (IS) | Course List
Look for Course codes IS-3, IS-301, IS-302, IS-303

On the train.org website, there are probably 80+ online courses relating to radiological incidents and radiation safety. These courses are aggregated from other training sites.

Some highlights I've come across:
