Default Copy programs from DISC receiver to computer

Advertise Here

I currently have DISH for TV and have saved a number of programs to the DISH receiver. I want to know if I can copy these programs to my computer to view or burn them to a DVD. My DISH bill keeps going up and as I am on SS it is getting beyond my ability to pay. I was thinking of dropping DISH and just getting programs off the internet. I am in my mid 70's and do not know much about current tech. I am an old DOS man from the 70's and 80's. I am not on social media. Just want to know if I can save these programs or will loose them when I drop DISH. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

You could use something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/UCEC-Capture-...s%2C152&sr=8-5

Hook it up to the analog outputs of the DISH receiver (the red, white and yellow RCA jacks) at one end and a USB port on your computer at the other.

The video will be standard definition instead of HDTV.

Forget Dish. I recently canceled them when my bill reached more than $100. They will also try to get you to pay $15 per box to ship their devices back to them. Reuse to pay it when you cancel and they will drop the fee.

If you already have Internet access with a speed of 50 mbps or greater, consider going with a Roku Streaming Stick+ for about $50 each on sale. This is a one-time fee.

For almost every channel you get on cable or satellite (except premium channels), we went with Hulu's Hulu + Live TV for $43.99 per month. The service has a built-in recorder that saves shows and lets you view them later.

The Hulu service has been great and less than half the price of Dish.

I know this doesn't answer your question, but it may be a better solution.

That's the thread that made me decide to look at Roku. Thanks. There are thousands of free shows available on Roku, but it only offers excerpts of Fox News. With Hulu + Live TV we get everything we had with Dish, including Fox News. You can connect to Hulu through the Roku device.

If you are hesitant to use credit cards on the web, Hulu takes PayPal.

I have HD Homerun box with 4 digital tuners. It connects to the antenna jack and network, then provides TV channels to the home network (in my case, phone, ipad and computers).

In addition I have plex server that mainly is my "home netflix" but also allows me to watch and record tv channels from that HD Homerun box.
