Default How close is Texas to turning blue?

Advertise Here

This is the 5th GOP house member who will not run in 2020. At first there were a couple of never trumper republicans dropping out nationwide because their opposition to Trump was a guaranteed loser, but this recent spat of Texas GOP are different? Right? Are these guys saying they have no chance of winning in their districts because of the situation happening in Texas. If you look at voting stats GOP has consistently been able to win 30% of the Hispanic vote. Plus, turnout is typically low as it is. Are they expecting Texas to turn blue sooner rather than later?

He served 5 terms and is now 65. He's just smarter than RBG and bowing out while he has a few years to enjoy.

States like Texas and Georgia are in big danger in turning blue in governor, federal senate and presidential races where the big cities swamp the rest of the state in popular vote. I am still blown away here in Georgia how close that far left water buffalo Stacey Abrams came to winning governor. My suburban Atlanta district elected a dim running on gun control.

The state legislatures will remain red since most counties will vote conservative. States like Texas and Georgia have a very high county count. I think in Georgia that is because a long term law said a county has to be small enough you can walk to the county seat in a day.

Am going to find the thread I originally posted this in but Texas has been more blue than red.

I know; some of you won't believe me. Not too hard to look it up.

It would not surprise me if it's blue after 2020.

It's going to be close; some of us having been saying Florida first, others Texas first.

Meanwhile, down here in AZ-land, we're another step closer. The former A-10 pilot not looking good against the former Navy pilot. If we get an 10th CD, odds are it will seal the deal for years. Currently, 5 of 9 are blue. And, in spite of what others desperately don't want to believe our beloved Gov. Douchey might as well come out and say it.

One reason I determined that Arizona was not for me
Once you go Blue, you get screwed
Realistically, there are only a few States that will be Red in 20 years
I intended to live in one of those States

I think Texas and Florida can remain red if the GOP sticks to their principles and get away from trying to play identity politics. The ball is really in their court.

Ok, but Texas is 38 electoral votes. That is a big deal. Its more than all those states put together. I don't think that will be taken lightly. That is just too much power for the DEMS. Texas needs to remain red to uphold the proper balance and check. Maybe some introspect would be necessary.

There is already precedent already set in Florida and Texas. You don't have to win the vote, but just split it. But that won't continue to happen with these types colorful description. Valid principles do not discriminate. Not everyone wants free stuff and some are willing to use it as it's intended as a helping hand so you won't need it later.

Interesting dream you have there but nonetheless Jack is spot on. Baby boomers are getting older. Millenials seem to gravitate to the easy way out. Democrats tell them what they want to hear, promise them stuff they have no intentions of delivering on. Just ask many of the inner city black population in Democrat-run cities how that's all been working out for them.

Then add in the deliberate attempts to circumvent the EC. Retirees from high tax cold weather states moving to low tax warm weather states; many of them bringing their politics with them both good an bad. In this area here, the Land of Goldwater is awash with Californians. Sure, there are some conservatives out there but I'll wager just by looking at the car they drive or the bumper stickers they sport I can guess their politics. And you wonder why certain AZ CDs that were once SOLID red are now blue?

It's a cancer and it is only a matter of time. I often find myself wondering if this is what the Republicans really want.

It's all about messaging.....short term gains don't always equate to long term gains. Sometimes you have to have vision. I am actually quite surprised the white flag is so quick to be waved, especially considering such a big prize.

Then you're not seeing that the Democrats have the vision for the long game. They want Florida and they want Texas. And while you may disagree with me now, they absolutely want AZ. AZ has not been blue since Hayden-McFarland. And now, we're just one election away from that. Republican control in this state is ebbing away and the Party Leadership consists of idiots, many of whom were put in place by none other than the Maverick himself. Current Party Chairperson Dr. Kelli Ward is proving herself to be a poor leader. Of course Lines was worse; he literally carried the towel to wipe the sweat off the Maverick's sac.

Just look around you. CO was once solid red. Utah is slowly falling. People are being repeatedly told we're a democracy and that Trump is a threat to our democracy. They hate it when I remind them we are a constitutional republic.

Oh I see it....Don't think I don't see it, but I also believe in balance and what I think people fail to understand is that they are cutting their own throats. Cruz said better than I ever could. Stand by your principle. Erase all the bull**** and hypocrisy. Just stand on your principles and you will be surprised what one can do. I don't even recognized what conservatism means anymore.

Its according to whether Texas has voter ID requirement. I don't know if it does. If not, it will go blue this time. Any state without a voter ID law will probably go blue. Just pile them in the bus, pay them $10 to vote, bus them from precinct to precinct. Add to that all the dead people, etc. and you have an overwhelming voter base. The DEMs do not play by the book, they play by Saul Alinsky's rules, no holds barred, nothing too low if you win. The end justifies any means. If you din't believe that you are smoking whatever keeps you in lala land, while wearing rose-colored glasses and drinking that doctored Koolaid.
