I wonder if any of these cure claims are valid?

Howdy!

I've lived with it for so long that I would be shocked for it to stop. U.S. Army caused it and now they provide me with hearing aids, but that does not stop the constant ringing.

Good luck with that. I got out in 86 and am still waiting.

Mine comes and goes, (but it never goes away!). I think I have it correlated to my salt intake. I restrict salt anyway, because it stimulates my restless-leg syndrome. So I'm better now than I have been in the past.

Tinnitus doesn't cause balance problems. That's vertigo, which is a purely mechanical problem. Tiny calcification bits in the inner ear get loose and land on the cilia that sense acceleration, giving us our sense of balance. Bad vertigo will give you severe nausea. I've had one bad episode; they at first thought I was having a heart attack!

I've heard of that helping. Maybe it just mitigates the symptoms?

Get away from florescent lighting. At home, I'm fine... at the office... constant buzzing.

Had it for over 35 years, constant high pitch tones.
Some say aspirin and caffeine amplify the sound, but I haven't heard a difference.
Is it annoying? Yep

Sounds stupid, but it tends to work....whistle at the same tone you're hearing. Just the one note about ten secs. The way my doc explained it is that the ringing comes from damaged cilia areas in the ear and my suggestion to whistle excites those same areas with real sound. It's on the same line with massaging a muscle ache. Folks I've mentioned it to said it worked for them as well as it has for me.

This is interesting stuff. I got my tinnitus 30 yrs ago when I had a sinus condition, and I got fluid or phlegm or whichever it was in my eustacean tube when I coughed, and it immediately started and never quit since. I had doctors tell me I had fluid in the ear, but they never suggested doing anything about it.

I became very sensitive to sounds after that, and sharp, loud sounds irritate me and make me jump like nobody else I know. Booming bass from stereos really bother me the most.

I must have HBP, because there are times I wake up at night and the noise is really loud. I hear clicks like Morse code going off frequently. Its a PIA condition.

Does all this happen to other sufferers here?

Mine is a combination of 20 years of jet noise and meniere's disease. Both have conspired to cause hearing loss and tinnitus.

A friend went hiking and found his tinnitus was canceled out completely by the sounds of a local waterfall . There are many long videos of waterfalls with audio up to 8 hours long on you tube for tinnitus sufferers.

Mine comes and goes, like most here.

I grew up on a farm in the early 70s around a lot of loud equipment and long before hearing protection was a "thing". Today my ears have constant wax build up which I believe causes much of my ringing and other odd sounds. I try to rinse with warm water pretty regularly which helps the waxing but not always the ringing.

I was in AIT in Georgia in the early 70s they were teaching us to drive jeeps when it started to rain like a cow ****ing on a flat rock. We ran to the nearest cover which had a tin roof lightning hit the roof and instant tinnitus it sounds like cicadas non stop.

I ran a coil slitting machine for years. At times I had ear plugs in and head phones , but the noise was so loud couldn't even tell I had protection on .....felt it in my heart and chest beating from the intense noise.
But at times during set up....I could not wear protection.
Feels like I just shot a box of 30:06 shells with out protection now.....I can't hear birds chirp any more.....sad. It can drive me crazy at times.
I sleep with a HOME MEDICS sleep machine.....it has white noise, rain sound , babbling brook , etc to drown out the nose while I sleep.....helps alot!!!!!!!!!!

I've mostly gotten used to it. There are days when I can hear normally (maybe a half dozen all year) and it surprises the crap out of me!

I have tinnitus from working on large airplanes in the military and currently. There is no way to cure, as mentioned above. My ringing is so loud that it sounds like a freight train in my head. The only way for me to fall asleep is to be A) extremely tired or B) have some sort of white noise playing next to the bed like a hairdryer/vacuum/aircraft cabin ambient noise...helps dull the ringing. Cleaning your ears does not help. Literally the only thing for me that helps is having a loud ambient noise that will drown out the ring. Good luck
