RE people giving up more and more of their personal information and privacy to the internet: It's voluntary. You can't persuade them not to do it. They're willing to trade security for convenience and luxury. So am I, but only within limits. Most people set no limits, and are willfully ignorant of the possible costs and consequences. I can do nothing for them. I can only worry about myself.

Agreed for some reason, forces that be are trying to get citizens to take arms against one another. It seems that way at least. The media is constantly hitting on it. It could just be ratings. It could just be ignorance. I don’t know, but a reckoning might be coming.

We have the internet in our pocket they say. All of us on smart phones all day long. Facebook and google embedding software so that they can know what we are looking at, who we are talking to, when and why. Not to mention whatever Snowden explosed.

Cars that report back to whoever the hell they report back to. You need a degree in computer science just to repair something.

We do not even own music anymore. We stream it, and if the app is down, we cannot consume it. I own CD's, and cassette tapes, and I am not dependent on a wifi connection.

My phone listens for me to say Hey Siri. You mean that I am supposed to believe that is the only time it listens to me.

You can get what amounts to a listening device that somehow we have been tricked into buying to install in our home. WE BUY THIS STUFF. We buy a device that we can ask questions of, and it gives us answers. That means it is sitting there listening, all the time. Do I think Bezos or the Google crew or whoever makes and aggregate this data is doing so to better the world? No.

Do I think this is all about selling me stuff? NO.

I think they are collecting so much data that it has to be for something else.

My political party, the Democrats, have simply become the party of no. Divided government forces this gridlock. It forces the party in opposition to whoever and whatever to simply say no. Where McConnell says no to Pelosi, Pelosi says no to the President.

All the while NOTHING occurs.

We have become what we hated in everyone else. Where the right hated the executive order binge of President Obama, President Trump rules by fiat a lot.

Where we were critical of President Obama for his Hawaii vacations, or President Bush 2 trips to the ranch in Texas, President Trump has spent over 100 million on golf trip protection.

I do not say this to fault any of them time off, I have no idea what there job must be. But, what we complained about or defended, that is now who we are.

The left, and specifically, Antifa are seeking to be a real revolutionary force. The only thing different between them and the old militia movement, in my coffee'd up opinion, is one was cooler and liked guns. The other hates guns, and just screams.

The difference between Cliven Bundy or the guys who took over that park up north, and antifa, is sort of slight. It is just degrees of the same thing.

We have lost our way as a country. The things that folks like Alex Jones or Rachel Maddow railed against, are now things that they support. THe world has flipped.

"They" "The Swamp" or whoever, those folks are winning. Whoever they are.

Were going to start shooting each other, blowing each other up. I think the culture war will be an actual hot war soon enough. And someone somewhere wants that.
All true. The patiot act was a stake in the heart of liberty. But there is not a damn thing we can do about it.

Btw, Trump is not Satan, he is just a rude ******* with funny hair.
Satan is the power freak(s) who made sure we had to choose
Between, Bush vs Gore, Obama vs McCain, Trump vs Clinton.

So what are you personally doing to survive a culture war?
Do you still live in a major city? Do you grow any of your own food?
Do you own smart devise? Do you Facebook? Online banking?

My advise, find your own version of Galt's Gultch and punch out, sell out, and bug out while the bugging is good.

You are correct, someone wants a war.

That someone is democrats (communist party USA), many member want and have been calling for a violent revolution for a hundred years. They think that is the only way they can reach their utopian vision of a communist country.

On the other side of the equation it is looking more and more like there must be a violent war to wipe out the communists that have infiltrated every facet of of government, media, law, education, medicine, etc.

The down side of a "civil war" is the outcome is unpredictable and probably means America as we remember it is destroyed and never coming back.

Be Prepared !

If the government issued everyone a device and mandated that check in once every (letís be generous) 2 hours, people would riot in the streets.

But instead millions of people purchase smart phones and create various social media accounts.

These providers trick you into giving them unfettered access to your info.

Then maybe Iím just a cynical, paranoid redneck. If I were white that is...

When I read the title I thought the article was going to be about how we are poisoning our air and water supplies. A lot of people don't realize that lead pipes were used in all of the old towns. Yes if your town is over 80 years old then you probably have lead pipes that carry your water from the main to your house. People are finding out that they have lead in their water because the water department decides to use some chemical that cleans away the scale on the inside of the pipes. So now you have some of that lead in your water.

With all of the information that is being collected by the police state they still can't tell when some nut is going to kill a whole lot of people or maybe that is something they don't really care about.

With everything that some say is wrong with the world - why not just check out? Preppers are ready for self-sustainment without technology right? So why aren't you living like the Amish? Move to the hills and never leave again, problem solved.

I don't believe 2016 was a free & fair election & I don't believe for a second 2020 will be free & fair either. All across the nation Criminal Hillary couldn't fill a high school gymnasium with her rallies but, Trump had two or three high school gymnasium's worth of people standing OUTSIDE his rallies after they were closed by the fire marshal for filled max capacity. Yet we are told Criminal Hillary won the popular vote.

I pray to God we get 4 more years of Trump & Britain gets the Brexit the people voted for. Globalism is facing a backlash across the world & there's still a chance for Freedom to win but, ANYTHING can still happen & our enemies have absolutely NO INTENTIONS of fighting fair.

I sincerely hope there will be no "civil war" but, if there is one, it absolutely MUST end with the Constitution intact. If it doesn't than it isn't over.

You use the term "all" in your post, while "majority" would be accurate, "all" is not accurate.

Personally I do not own a cell phone, I honestly hate phones, I prefer not to even have one in my house either but I have had to give in to that one. But then again I grew up without a phone in the house so they don't seem all that important to me, I see them more as a nuisance that I'd prefer to avoid. If you want to talk to me, drive over and talk to me, otherwise leave me be...

As for Siri or any of this other crap, I find the idea of such a thing completely unwise, anyone that has anything like that in their home is insane...

As for Google, I equate Google with "evil" I avoid anything "Google".... I mean if you like malware and tracking then go for it, but otherwise always avoid anything having to do with Google. I have been telling people this for the last 20 years.

I don't stream music, though I do download it and then store it on drives or burn it to DVD etc. Over the years I have screen captured and downloaded thousands upon thousands of songs and song videos. As for movies and whatnot, we stopped watching tv 20 years ago and began buying VHS and DVD movies. We have around 5,000 movies or so, granted we seldom use them now as we mostly watch shows on the internet now, but unlike most if we decide to get rid of Netflix we can simply go back to watching our own shows.

As for electronic gadgets like the fit bits and watches etc, I can't even wear a ring or a necklace much less a watch, that crap drives me insane. The only thing belonging on my body is my clothes...

I also would never drive a car with friggin blue tooth or the onstar communications system that just seems nuts to me, not too mention expensive and hard to repair. I will stick with my old broke down trucks and what not that I can fix anything on myself for next to nothing. Less stressful as well if you buy all your rigs predented you don't have to worry about door dings and dents that way...

It is also in my opinion wise to avoid anything being in your house that can wirelessly communicate with anything else, that seems like a "very" bad idea to me. Don't get me wrong I am not anti tech or anything, hell I am an electronics technician I have been working with computers and advanced electronics since HS in the mid 80's, but some things are very clearly a "bad" idea...

Being raised by people that grew up in the great depression I was taught to avoid banks and credit cards and debt my entire childhood and I as an adult have invested all of my money into this farm, tools, equipment and know how, all of which which I have paid cash for, even this farm bought in 2012. Everything that I own I have bought with cash, I have yet to ever take out a loan of any kind. I did have to use a bank a bit in the process of selling my last farm and buying this one apparently no one will do cash deals with 400K, but I suppose limited use of a bank is acceptable.

I have managed to avoid pretty much all forms of advertising for the past 20 years, I have avoided every news cast etc.. I get my news by reading printed articles so I have no emotional heart strings being pulled by a video etc. I live out in the middle of nowhere in Northern Idaho on my farm and I do not see or experience any of the crap that everyone else does. I have raised all six of my children in this way as well.

Technology is something to avoid except for what you need and require, it is unwise to become reliant upon anything but yourself. For example if you have to rely on a store or other people for food you have a weakness that can be easily exploited. Technology is the same...

I don't live like everyone else, I don't eat like everyone else and I don't believe as everyone else. The most interesting thing to me is that none of this stuff is forced on anyone and yet everyone falls prey to it in spite of it being clear that it is a bad idea. Never understood that...

Personally I figure the more people that become reliant upon such things the more will die off when things go south. Less competition for me and mine, survival of the fittest, in the end "it is a competition" between us all.

I once went to a fundraiser at a Amish/Menonite church/school.
