I think it will be a combo of events. Economic issues and oil issues will combine to slow down shipping in the US (world wide?) and that really will hurt us a lot. Add to that a bad season (possibly a natural disaster) for crops and the fact so many crops are grown for fuel now will produce a food shortage. This obviously leads to rioting and rioting is never good for an already crumbling economy.

Default Hello...

Hello folks - just found this site after looking around at others and thought I'd join...up in Litchfield County...figured it's time to get ready...don't see much getting better...see a lot getting worse...so I'd rather be ready when TSHTF...just hooked up with this site...

Default Moving to CT ...

Hello Ct Preppers ... just joined this forum, and planning to move to CT this year from NY. I am just getting familiar with the idea of well water, as I have not dealt with this issue on L.I.

Wondering if there are any resources out there in regards to preparedness in regards to well water .... Also what are the advantages / disadvantages of having a well vs. city water in the event of a power shortage, if any.

Any links or threads you can point me to would be helpful. We hope to move to the Danbury area by the end of the summer.

Thank you!

Welcome Mari - There are definitely pros and cons for both systems. With city water, pressure is almost always steady, little chance of running out, but cons would be poisoning of reservoirs by terrorist group, possible government intervention on rationing in times of distress, and you pay for it. With well water, tastes better(my opinion, lol), you always know where the water's coming from, it's free. Cons are pressure may vary, pump could burn out in power outages...

Hope this helps somewhat!

Thank you son of liberty, this helps. It sounds as though a home with well water would be the way to go. My next step is looking into buying a solar power generator ... not sure if this can help re: the well pump but i will be doing some research on it shortly.

Thanks again! And yes I would be interested in getting together with any preppers once we get up there ...

Hi there, I'm a real estate agent in CT with 160 acre property that hits every requirement for the perfect homestead. Its in Litchfield county, remote, long steep driveway, about 20-25 open acres, old farm house, barn and out buildings. It comes with tons of equipment, bulldozer, backhoe, farming, carpentry and machine equipment. It also has endless wildlife and a year round creek. Call me anytime, Bob Bailey- 860-307-0220
