I missed out on the saiga 12 back some years and kicked myself for not buying one at the $350 price point.

There have been other incarnations of the saiga since then. But nothing that seemed worth while.

Then came the SDS lynx 12. Which became available in 2017. I was apprehensive. Another half assed saiga clone.

So, after waiting on others reviews and seeing the positive response. I decided to take the plunge.

The shotgun out of the box is pretty nice. Finish is excellent and comes with features the original saiga should have been imported with. Basically you get a cardboard box with some foam, one 5rd magazine and a owner's manual. also the shotgun in plastic.Simplistic.

If anything I was impressed with the gun. Then I went to the initial cleaning and degreasing. Lots of oil. But to be expected. Unfortunately inspecting the barrel found a bit of discoloration and rough texture on the chrome lining. Bummer.

I've been in contact with SDS and their customer service has been awesome. More then I expected.
For the most part it's cosmetic. And hasn't affected function.

I've run remington slugs, various buck and bird shot. With only a few hang up of plastic catching on sharp internals. This gun is great out of the box. With the gas port wide open I feel it would run anything I feed it.

Bolt hold open works great and makes mag changes a breeze. And magazine was as good as the saiga magazines I've seen in the past.

Another thing you will find is the safety lever is made of thin metal. Mine has loosened a bit. But was easily fixed but tightening. It back up.

In short a quality clone. A real shooter out of the box. Aside from my cosmetic issues I am pleased with this shotgun. And for the price it's outstanding.

I finally got that s12 I wanted and didn't have to do the pistol grip/stock conversion. Saving that money for some slick upgrades.

If you are thinking about getting one. Do it! Don't miss out on this clone. It's a great buy.
