I use Opera web browser, it is free and opensource, it is based on the same open source software as Google Chrome just without any affiliation with Google.
The first setting on it is an ad blocker which works quite well. There are a lot of pages that will not allow me to view them because of the ad blocker but generally it is easy enough to find what I am looking for on another page that doesn't ding me for having the ad blocker on. You can also add certain pages to a list allowing them specifically to bypass the ad blocking so that you are allowed to view the page if need be.
Opera also has built in free VPN.
I like Opera mostly because I am able to avoid anything Google with it. I also like that it has everything you need to watch Netflix and whatnot, no downloading crap to be able watch Netflix, I remember always having to reinstall something to watch Netflix when I was using IE. Opera also blocks the ads on youtube etc.
You cannot use Opera with Google earth anymore, but you can still download the old version of Google earth and use Opera on it rather than Google Chrome.
If you haven't tried Opera you might consider trying it, it is free and unlike Google crap you can easily and simply uninstall it anytime you like.
