Anyone keeping an eye on the USGS map today? LOTS of activity in the past 24hours! Add that to the Calif activity and it might raise a few eyebrows!

This one seems to be updated. If there are better maps please post. Looks like Alaska is the very worst wildfire area currently in the USA >

I think he was referring to geological activity. But honestly it doesn't look too busy. Maybe he was talking about actual fires. The world may never know...

Hope it will be clarified although right now probably until at least October wildfires are a Much bigger threat than earthquakes.

THE SAD thing of Ring of Fire/plate tectonics thing...

In the future...Los Angeles will detach from Kali, sail north and eventually crash into Alaska... and ruin a really wonderful state.

I saw somewhere that the Philippines are preparing for a big quake that they think is coming soon.

UNFORTUNATELY, the best predictors of earthquakes are the birds, dogs and other critters... and by the time they are noticed it is too late to give a warning.

There a story/recording in history back in BC Greece of all the critters and vermin leaving a city days before the place was leveled by an earthquake.
Coincidence???

Throughout history folks have said the animals were acting strange before the ground shakes.

Too bad science can't do as well.

usgs.gov

Ring of fire, in terms of the usgs, refers to earthquakes. That day, there was a 7+, five 6+, six 5's, about a dozen 4's, BUNCHES of up to 4. Calif had had more than a thousand up til that day. Many times greater than normal.

I thought there were more usgs fans here. I'm surprised! Well worth making a favorite of it.

Be well, all.

Only two ways to go now. It might have been the main one and the next few hundred will be aftershocks or that one was a foreshock along with the thousand others. The supposed experts are talking about the next two weeks.

Have you thought about a career change into seismology - you seem to have a flair for earthquake forecasting.
