Yahoo news made this a big deal here in Arkansas. A white woman home alone hears a knock at her door and sees four Black Teenage Boys outside. She gets a gun and goes out the back door and holds the boys at gunpoint until the police arrive. The boys were trying to raise money for the local high school football team. People are falling all over themselves stating what a horrible thing it was for that woman to do. Bleeding hearts were all over this post.

My neighbor was a banker in Little Rock AR. until he retired and moved near me in rural North Arkansas. His home in Little Rock suffered three burglaries that were perpetrated by black suspects who came to the front door, knocked with some kind of phony solicitation story and when no one answered they would kick in the door and burglarize the house. He lost his guns in the first burglary. Afterwards he installed an alarm, camera and gun safe. The second and third burglaries costs him over $500 in repairs for the broken door and jamb. But he didn't have any property taken.

This first incident occurred in Wynn, Arkansas. I sympathize with the woman. This is a sign of the times. People are demanding action against her but I think an apology would suffice. Black crime has aroused a lot of people and this town has its fair share of black crime. Give the lady a break.

This is one of many thousand reasons I live in the sticks.
If you are at my front door you jumped a fence and traveled a half a mile to get there
Four black kids at my front door would be out of place
I do not brandish
But with all the glass there is nowhere to hide
I would have asked why they were there and made it clear
Wrong House
Wrong guy
First and last warning
Living in a city is super stupid in my opinion.
I would at least have a locked picket fence to avoid such nonsense

It's Yahoo! That's a red flag in and of itself. We can rest assured that the story has been twisted to fit the SJW outlook on guns and gun owners.

But regardless of the veracity of the story ... a homeowner has the right to own guns and to use them in a responsible manner. She didn't shoot anyone but she made it clear to the sweet, innocent "youth" that they aren't welcome on her property and she let the rest of the neighborhood know the same. Any law that keeps her from protecting her property is a violation of her rights as a property owner.

Black America will blow this completely out of proportion and make a racial issue out of it. In the end there was no harm and no foul. Tell everyone to go home and be nice. Do you think if the woman forked over a hundred bucks for their cause, the football team would get the money? Think again.

Liberty is considered right up there close with life for the American constitutional ideal.

She took their liberty away unlawfully.

It's worth making a big deal over. Sure, the idiots will make it a racial issue, but it is still an American rights issue.

The American kids deserve some recognition of their loss of American rights.

Loss of liberty is deservedly a sore point to black Americans.

FOX / CNN: Different sides of the same coin. I don't trust the MSM and their fake news in most cases.

Regardless ... 4 strangers on a woman's private property. I would expect my wife or mom or sister to be on high alert.

City Data website: Wynne, Arkansas

http://www.city-data.com/city/Wynne-Arkansas.html

Wynne's crime rate is about 1-1/2 the times of the national average.

About 65% white population
About 31% black population

It's almost a given that the higher the black population the higher the crime rate will be!

Good point...but don't see the justification. I live in fear when I go to wal mart because some white dude may kill me as part of his manifesto. Or dropping off my kid in day care because some white dude might molest my kid. Or fear my kid hanging with some white kids that might pressure them to pop pills, eventually getting my kid hooked. That is what the stats out there say right? LOL.

Point is you can't judge individuals based on stats. Because if you could then Kamala Harris has a case when she says white nationalists should not be allowed to have guns.

I don't know if what she did was right or wrong but I do know that a lot of things are getting blown WAY out of proportion these days because the news media is trying to make it look like white people are abusing blacks. That must be what is popular and gets the most comments from enough people that the news media will keep reporting these lame stories until nobody cares anymore. This incident should be on page three of the local paper not in national news. It isn't hard to figure that the news media thinks that it is profitable right now to bash white people and that is the whole story.

Illegal detention is relevant to every US citizen.

Do it to me and I'm going to sue you into the poorhouse.

Btw, once her criminal issues are resolved she faces civil liability for false arrest.

She's not a cop and doesn't have qualified immunity from civil suit.

I expect that her husband will likely be steered to early retirement and after the lawsuit those two are going to be dead broke.

I hope those two can get by on Social Insecurity because they are going to be tapped out at the bank and retirement fund.

Food stamps here she comes and the actuaries will adjust her life expectancy down at least 5 years for bare bones Medicare.

Two were wearing school team jerseys.

Frankly, let's call that a wash. They represented their cause, but not perfectly.

As for chaperoning, I never did have one as a high school player in the 70's. Just team jersey and the candy box. Can't say I was a bright smiling face either. It was summer and I was doing this door to door crap instead of summer vacation. Wanna buy candy to help my team? By the first block I was just going through the motions and trying not to cuss out the folks telling me to keep walking. Our dads would have said to get after it on our own because we were old enough to be men about it. And I would have hated being chaperoned anyway. I wasn't a 5 year old going house to house on Halloween. I guess mom might have volunteered but there was no way I would have been caught being seen at 16 being escorted by my mom. Dad bought up the last half of the box I didn't feel like selling and I called that a win. I got to go back to summer partying at night and doing my 2-a-day summer workouts with the team coaches.

Let's not drill in too deep on appearances. Football players get told to beg for a little team cash before the season starts. It's crappy hot and mildly embarrassing to be told to go begging. They aren't going to show up like a couple well dressed Mormon kids in suits passing out the brochures with spotless appearances. They just want that damn box sold and get it over with. After about the 10th house it's just a grind of frequent no's. The second and third summers with this you have an attitude before you even walk out the door.

In my opinion its wrong to even be sending a bunch of kids out to beg for charity in the first place.

What life lesson does that teach them?

This is a use your common sense deal
Example, as mentioned, I "police" a long 1/2 mile drive way that leads to front door
A ratted-out Mitsubishi two-door car rolls up around 10 am
Gate normally locked 99.5% of the time
Open for expected delivery
Grab handgun by door stick it in back- side undershirt
Walk out expecting a problem
"Do you have any Pit-Bulls" he asked
No, I am not stupid so I said no
Turns out he lost around "$35k" in goats
Turns out he, and his brother, are LEOs in local big town about 40 mins away
His family owns hundreds of acres surrounding land where I am
Asked if I wanted to go hunting
I judged him on his age and his rice-burner POS Mitsubishi
Again, I do not brandish
Don't go there
I am certain he and his brother know the county sheriffs who oversee this area
He left and the Pit-Bull turned up dead
I hear a neighbor eliminated it
You should have a plan when you deal with uninvited visitors.
Make that, a good plan

The opinions on this issue have run the course from, put the lady in jail for kidnapping and civil rights violation and maybe a hate crime to, allow her to hold the young lads at gunpoint for trespassing. The answer falls somewhere in the middle. By the loss of her job she has been punished enough. I have friends who live in this town and they do have a black crime problem. They also have a white meth problem. Residents are on edge because of it.

Loss of job is only the beginning....not punishment enough
Criminal charges....jail time....Civil lawsuits

You guys don’t get it....idiots like her is another reason gun rights are being chipped away. And if you support and defend her actions..then you are part of the problem as well.
Her actions have hurt gun rights more than any politician

But you support and defend her?

=Israel Putnam;19721218]Bull.
If she felt threatened for her life she was a flaming idiot for going outside with a revolver to confront four potential “thugs” who if they’d been armed would have cut her dumb ass down.
How do you know the details, do you have inside info?

There is no excuse for her asinine behavior and all the twisting and turning
How do you know she had "No Excuse"??

Irony, this board is full of it, among other things..
If you feel this way about "This Board" why are you here?

How do you know the details, do you have inside info?
Details about what?
That if someone legitimately feels threatened by four young thugs that’s its most likely not the greatest idea to go sneak around and confront four potentially armed thugs with a six shot revolver?
I don’t understand your question.

How do you know she had "No Excuse"??
Because the law says so?

If you feel this way about "This Board" why are you here?
Veiled racism by some on this board isn’t going to run me off, am I breaking the forum rules by posting my opinion however unpopular it may be?
If so let me know and I’ll correct whatever it is that is offensive to the other members.

To be fair some of the opinions may be based on different living situations.

I too live in a rural part of Texas. My driveway is about half a mile long. The entrance to the driveway requires a code or coded remote to open. Once you get to my house there is yet another electric gate to be opened. I'm surrounded by forest and can't see my nearest neighbors from my home.

My packages and mail are left at the top of the road.

So yes, if anyone whatsoever knocked on my door I would take it extremely serious and a gun would most certainly be involved.

A few things pop up in this thread.

What is the home invasion rate in the town done by black folks?

She saw them hiding and approaching her door in what she believed was suspicious manner.

She was concerned for her safety and believed she was capable of detaining them and called for LE.

She may have been poorly trained, but had some type of LE authority (working in the jail). I'm obviously not up on exactly what level of LE authority she had, but the majority of you aren't either.

She likely dealt with many threats that "I'll send someone there" type threats and was worried as this unfolded. I know many jail and correction guards that deal with that almost daily. I doubt it's much different down there.
.
.
.

So was she stupid going out and "apprehending them"? Maybe, it was probably outside her authority. But she did it. Live a little in the shoes of a jail or prison guard's shoes. You may find an entirely different mindset.

I have gone out to circle around and confront some people at my door a time or two. Totally illegal under the laws I have in this state. Plus I'm not a cop anymore but I have done it. I have gone out to confront someone messing with my horses or going into my barn. Again, not really legal but I have done it. And I'll likely do it again.

My best choice is to not answer the door and wait in an elevated position and just shoot them should they break in. I fully understand that. But that's the house. My barn and my horses are also something worth protecting. So there is that. Illegal? Maybe. Might I go to jail? Maybe. But I did what I had to do.

#132 ·
Someone breaking into your barn or trying to steal your horses is committing a felony most likely and you'd be fully justified in protecting your livestock in my state as livestock is considered to be something you can protect.

But would you do so with a six shot revolver if there were four masked bandits entering the barn?

Being a misanthrope, I don't get many visitors. However, I don't discriminate - if someone comes to my door I answer it with my S&W model 65 .357 magnum held in my hand out of view behind my right thigh.

Given blacks' proclivity for crime and violence, I don't blame her.

P.S. Is that profiling? According to the "pc" definition of the word it is. However, I call it reacting to the realities of life.
