Jessies' Shootout

I had a feeling he would use it when he took the 2 guns out of his parents' safe.

Damn you are right the 22 never left his belt until he started shooting at the second guy. So much for my powers of observation.

Don't feel bad, I had to watch a couple of times myself.

My favorite gunfight scene is from "Ride With The Devil." It shows desperate action, paralyzing fear, confusion, cool determination, adrenaline surge, courage under fire, decisiveness, ruthlessness, loyalty.......I reckon I could go on but that should be enough.

It starts in this clip at about 6:30:

It continues in this clip to about 2:10:

I believe students of small unit tactics will recognize something called Breakout From Encirclement.

I don't care for tricky, slick, "the coolest latest acrobatic shooting," etc.

I like raw brutal realism in shooting scenes. Not many movies get it right. Here's a few.

Collateral (alley way shootout), Heat (several excellent examples), Ronin (especially the gun deal scene in France) (and props for an 2 incredible car chase sequences), Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan, and maybe a few others I'm forgetting.

I just watched the scene in El Camino and it was silly. Jesse - who has no firearms knowledge or experience to my memory - uses an OFF-HAND hip shooting .22 concealed in a jacket pocket, to out shoot a seemingly veteran gun slinger across a room (granted the gun slinger is high on coke). But that sequence wasn't very believable for many reasons. It was dumb.

Off hand. Inexperienced. In a concealed pocket. Hip shooting. Across a room. Under stress. Lands lethal hits. Not gonna happen folks.

Agreed. That's one of the reasons I like "Ride With The Devil" so much. Brutal realism.

To that I would add the Northfield Raid scene from "The Long Riders":

Wind river
Starts out like the OK corral only with modern semi autos and ends with the lever action 45-70 finishing the job.
If you haven't seen the movie...watch it.

Dumb gunfight, not remotely realistic for a half dozen reasons. For starters, people don't fly 10-15' when shot. And vest stop pistol rounds. I assume all those cops were donning vests...
