This is disappointing to hear. I can't believe it's infected you guys too. The casino stuff you're mentioning sounds like it could be it's own thread.

Theyre trying to push bicycle commuting but ridership has been declining drastically. Despite bike lanes costing up to $12M a mile and businesses complaining about lost streetside parking.

Doesn't it rain too much there to commute by bicycle?

Sometimes I think that, if I had it to do over again, I would have moved further out into the bordering rural area south or west, but it wouldn't have made sense for me or the family.

Crime isn't bad where I am, and it could very well be that with home prices on the upswing, it stays that way for a couple of decades. On the opposite side of the metro area, where I lived 20+ years ago, well . . . you can't get a pizza delivered anymore, if that means anything.

Sadly, the only way I think I'm going to be able to buy a house and still have access to reasonable mass transit for when I can't drive anymore is in one of "those" areas

Now I need to pick which combination of crime, drugs, violence, decay, demographics, etc., etc., etc. is least dangerous for me and act soon before prices go up again this summer. Oh, but wait, I need a ******* job first... agism here is un*******believable! Not the equal opportunity state I grew up in anymore

Cities like houston, new york, atlanta get more rain than seattle. Seattle is wet but i live to the north in a rain shadow. But i have bike commuted and the biggest thing is not rain but safety especially during the winter when its dark here going to work and dark coming home.

When I was in Montana I worked with a few people from Washington. They all gave the same reason for moving: liberals ruined their state. The guys from Colorado said the same thing.

Following this trend, I would not be surprised if big cities are uninhabitable by normal middle class people in the very near future.

They are the constructs of the elite upper class who don't have to deal with socio-economic problems "on the street" because they can insulate themselves in every aspect of the word. And the poverty class allows them to level taxes on the middle class, and control the downtrodden and middle class.

It's puzzling to me why ANYONE in the middle class (i.e. most of America) would vote for a dumo-rat.

Sounds like every person I've seen on a bike in the last 20 years, at least ones over the age of 12. Pretty sad when the children on bikes are the ones behaving like adults & the adults behave like 2 year olds.

The pnw is a beautiful area. But parts have become too popular for different reasons including lax drug laws. I haven't been down to seattle for awhile but have family down there and they seem ok. Just like anywhere you need money, here you need more money than most other places. There is higher than average property crime but lower than average violent crime.

Here is a counter to the series. He could have done a better job. Seattle could be a beautiful city. If it could get its act together it has the money fix just about anything. Spending now is out of control with a mile of bike lane costing up to $12M, out of control transit spending (my niece was paying $600 a year more for car tabs than here because of transit fees), spending $1B on homeless every year with problem getting worse.

I did a couple projects for work in 1995 and visited there three times. Beautiful area and the people were very nice. I flew into Seatac late and got to the hotel pretty late. In the lobby, behind the front desk was a huge oil painting of a mountain. I thought, 'that's kind of weird.' When I woke up and went outside, BAM! a great big mountain was staring me in the face. I never knew about Mt. Rainer.

It makes me sad the leftists have to ruin everything they touch.

Just watched this. So sad that Seattle is experiencing this. The responses from the police officers not being able to do their job was heartbreaking.

My wife and I both have family in Oregon, and Portland is following in Seattle's footsteps, which is a shame, because I enjoy visiting there and wouldn't (in a sane world) rule out living in the PNW someday. But with the way things are headed there, thanks but no thanks.

Third in three part series on homeless and drugs, other parts can be clicked on there. TV goes for shock value but that is still shocking title. Though i live an hour and a half away I haven't gone down there in a decade. I know things are bad but not sure how much is hype.
Looks like 1 hour segments.
These snowflakes brought it on themselves. Vote Democrap and this happens. I personally would love to Seattle die a slow and horrible death.

When I read the story I thought it was about New York City, Houston, Miami, Salt Lake City or any of the other conservative bastions that are overrun by meth, oxy and hydro where affordable housing and medical care are long gone. I'm not worried though. Trump's about to reveal the "replace" part of "Repeal and Replace."

I would tend to agree, but the problem is, they don't just die or evaporate, they move to red states & start turning them purple, then eventually red. Then the cycle starts all over again. Being as they are libtards, they can't see that its socialism (really just communism, shhh!) that causes the problems to begin with but think it must be evil conservatives & those rubes in flyover country who vote for them. A quick & fairly painless death so they wouldn't have time to flee would be much better for those areas, so the rats don't have time to flee the sinking ship.
