Default Steel toed shoes

Advertise Here

I was at a summer camp for disabled kids, I was around 13 at the time and during the girls rest period one day, when the guys were supposed to be showering one of male counselors comes into my cabin with medical restraints and starts to tie my counselors ( likely all 3 of them if I had not stopped him to their beds.

It was typical for the guys to come in and pull pranks, but this wasnít a harmless prank especially because some of my cabin mates would physically need the counselors to help them back from bed to wheelchair. So, I quietly hit the deck ( didnít want to be the next thing this idiot tied to a bed, got his attention, told him to leave and when he ignored my demand I started throwing my steel toed shoes. When the first missed, I told him they were steel toed and that I would aim for his head the second time. He left very quickly. Just wanted to make a suggestion about a covert weapon option.

A steel toes boot is not on my list of things to use. It may hurt some, but even a pencil is more deadly than a boot... unless it's attached to your leg that is kicking someone on the ground.

No and I am probably glad about it lol. As far as a pencil being worse I would think it would depend on which part of the boot hit where and how hard. If you take the steel toe to the head I think you would be on the deck.

I wear steel toed sneakers for work. I would go for a foot, ankle, knee, or groin shot.

The one time I was attacked by a stranger I ended up beating him with repeated right hooks to his face, put him on the ground.

If you have detachable footrests on your chair, you can always take a foot rest off and beat the crap out of an attacker with it. That's what my husband is prepared to do if it comes to it.

It's not a new idea by any means. The Roman Soldiers as early as the Republic period wore hob-nailed sandals for the purpose of stomping fallen enemy when advancing in the Testudo Formation. Think golf cleats but longer spikes. Not very practical in the modern world but a good incentive to remain on your feet if you were facing a Roman advance! I have personally not found a use for steel toes off the job but a well constructed, leather boot offers a lot of protection for your feet. Old-school cowboy boots with leather soles can do plenty of damage without the steel toe!

I've worn steel toed boots for more than 40 years mostly because my employers required them and later because I liked them. They saved my toes more than once shoeing horses.

Think trampoline stomping a bully or knee kicking an attacker. That's what steel toes are good for, too.

I read recently where two guys got in a fight at work. One ended up kicking the other half to death with steel-toed boots. The kicker was charged with felony assault for using lethal weapons (steel-toed boots) in the fight. So beware.

I work in a nursing home, where we can not carry a firearm. So I have plenty of other "items" on my person for defending myself IF needed. If someone comes in (either a disgruntled employee or someone seeking drugs) I will use what I can to keep myself alive. That's why I wear steel toed sneakers. I think it would be seen differently by LE in that case vs. kicking someone half to or to death in a brawl over the last bag of Doritos in the snack machine in the break room.

I wouldn't be throwing them, but at some bars, you won't be let in if they notice that you are wearing steel toed boots.

One bone, or by stiffening the foot and protecting the toes enough to kick with the point, they can really do some damage on the end of a motivated leg.

As far as improvised weapons goes, nothing beats the shock and lethality of the rat-tat-tat-tat of the machinegun woodpecker stab inflicted with chop sticks around the eyes and about the head and neck when executed by a practiced Asian street whore...

Important safety tip, if the bar girls carry stainless steel chop sticks with pencil erasers stuck on their ends, it is NOT a good sign that you want to be in that place!

I'll second this. May or may not have given a few boot party's in my youth.
