Did it ever occur to you that Korea and Japan don't actually like each other very much, and haven't liked each other for centuries? Over regulatory levels doesn't mean dangerous.

The Fukushima accident is like the Energizer Bunny compared to anything the Russians have ever had. It keeps going and going and going. Yet most of our media is silent.
This comment demonstrates a complete lack of perspective when it comes to the scales of nuclear accidents. The activity that Chernobyl released was conservatively 10 times that of Fukushima. Fukushima wasn't even close to Chernobyl... and never will be. Why? Because the "radioactive water" you're freaking out about is water with tritium in it. One of the LEAST concerning radioactive materials out there. It doesn't stay in your body. Even tritiated water only has a biological half-life of a couple of weeks. That, along with it being a weak beta emitter means it's not in your body long enough to cause damage long-term.

Did the 'dilution is the solution' thing work with all the mercury?
You're comparing apples to oranges.

Radioactive waste entering the same foodchain is not to be worried about why?
You inhale, eat, and drink (some even smoke) radioactive material every day. There is radioactive material in your body 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You are also constantly bombarded by cosmic rays. The reason this doesn't kill, mutate, or "cancerfy" you isn't that "natural radioactive elements" are safer than "man-made radioactive elements" it's because of the concentration. Being exposed to 1 microrem from a naturally occurring source is no different from being exposed to 1 microrem from a manmade source. They are exactly the same. Now man-made wastes tend to be higher concentration, thereby producing greater exposures. But, if dilution into the seawater occurs, it lowers those concentrations... until they're barely greater than natural levels. It's better to slowly release the water in those tanks than wait for another tsunami or earthquake to rupture them and dump them all at once into the ocean.

Many people, including the writers at sensationalist blogs and news sites, frequently confuse regulatory levels and levels that create biological effects. They make the mistake of assuming that exceeding a regulatory limit immediately means DANGER! That's not the case.
