Scope it. That opens up a much larger versatility and longer ranges to maximize your tool.

You can get a good 10/22 scope for around $20 on sale. Rings are cheap.

I have two identical Marlin 60's, only a couple of serial numbers off. One is open sights, the other I put a scope on.

I have one 10-22 with a small scope. My second I tricked out with heavy bbl new trigger and big scope for shooting long range prairie dogs. Thinking about another that I will equip with a reciever sight.

I didn't catch that. GD zombie threads. I had to go back and see what newby drug up this thread. It must be a rite of passage to drag up an old out of date thread for your first post.

I can't see the harm in digging up old stuff, looks like a few people are still interested in everything 10-22.

I am interested in 10/22s also and had a suggestion for the OP. But the OP is no longer responding to the thread and I bet has has his "to scope or not to scope" dilemma figured out by now..

Me too. I'll talk about 10-22s all day long. I have three now and will buy all I find for a decent price. I was looking at new ones yesterday at Academy Sports. Wanna talk 10/22s? Start a new thread and I'm in.

We can also talk about model 60 Marlins. I have one model 60 and two model 75c carbines. A 75c Carbine has been one of my truck guns for several years now. I will buy those just like I will buy 10/22s.

YOU start a new thread and I'll come there. I have some issues about the new hangy down mag releases all new rifles seem to have. They work well for big magazines, but the old style buttons work better for the 10 shot mags. for me.

I don't need to start a thread. I know all I need to know about 10/22s now. And if I think I need more information I will go to rimfirecentral where all the threads and information are new.

I just feel bad that no one told the guy to save some money and buy a better rifle, for less.

Oh well.

I like rimfirecentral...the 10/22 has it's own sections, so the stuff I like doesn't get all polluted with the fanbois talking BS about that silly gun.

My favorite 10/22 setup is and aimpoint with aimpointx3 magnifier setting on a Larue flip to side mount. It’s heavy but with the Ruger Sr22 chassis it’s not a light gunnto began with.

Seeing how it has to have the largest aftermarket support of any rimfire and probably any firearm except the AR it's not too hard to see why it has a following.

Followers will follow....

I always think it's a bit silly. If the gun was good to start with...it wouldn't need all that crap to try to be as good as the other guns.

Then there's the dress up stuff. Like putting racing stripes, ladder bars and a hood scoop on your Pinto. Sorry, buddy....it's STILL just a Pinto.

It's like the huge aftermarket for Glock triggers. Because the OEM triggers are really that bad, and every Glock fanboi knows it....but won't admit it, they just buy the "better" one and install it before ever even shooting the gun, because...that's what Glock guys do.

Don't get me wrong, I have 4 10/22's. Because I collect .22's, not because they are the best gun for any purpose I have for them.

I DO like the take down, though. At the price, that gun makes sense. If only Ruger didn't want to suck your wallet dry, and would put the BX trigger in at the factory for that $300, it would be a definite great gun.

Those are my thoughts on the AR. Not worth a crap unless you replace all the factory parts and rebuild the entire gun. Thats why I prefer my Mini-14. No spares needed and no upgrades either.

And I have three 10-22s and all are stock except two wear scopes. No others parts or changes needed. They were perfect right out of the box.

And the only upgrade my AR needed was a carry handle so I had a rear sight.

Ain't it weird that my guns work just as they were designed?

Perfect? You must be the luckiest man on earth, or you have no idea what a good trigger feels like.

When your Ruger can do what my $125 Mossberg did, let me know..
1 shot, adjust the scope, 6 more shots. 25 yards, supported on the truck rail.

Or, the $250 BRNO. About the same price as a mid range 10/22...this is 6 shots, irons, 25 yards, using the tailgate as a bench.

I have over 50 .22 rifles. The 4 Rugers aren't in the top 15 for accuracy, despite being in the top 10 for cost.

Deleted. You are not worth my time to argue with.

So have fun with your 7 year old zombie thread that once again has nothing to do with what the OP asked. I'm done.

If we are going to have a ****ing contest I’d like to throw my Xring into the pot.
The a 10/22 design made by TacSol. The only thing I change was added a AAC suppressor. It will makes my stock 10/22 feel worthless.
