I have a question about the slide on my XD9 Subcompact....
It seems really stiff to pull back.
Could that be because it looks to be new or hasnt had very many rounds put through it?
Will it get easier to pull back after its been fired awhile?

Yes. as you put more rounds down the pipe the recoil spring will loosen up. that is pretty typical of most semi auto's. My xdm 45 was the same as you describe. I will get better.

Throw a mag or two of SWC's down it, you'll change your tune then

Here is my XD 45 4". Polished barrel and guide rod, white lettering, Grip extension, even for sale. It's been a fun gun but I need something I can constantly change.

Thanks folks.
XD 9 sub compact is my EDC gun, love it to death (paid 499 for new) and dont regret it a bit. It fits my hand better than my G19 too. Need to take it to the range in the next month or so to break in some new SD ammo. I still havent done night sights on mine but it isnt my bedside gun so its a low priority at this point. The small size fits in my hands even though my hands are quite big you just have to adjust for your pinky finger not being on the gun but if you practice its not necessary, this gun doesnt kick much at all. An instructor I had for a handgun class borrowed my gun to demonstrate this for the girls in the class who had never used a gun. Gripped it with thumb and 2 fingers (one for trigger), no palm and popped off a few rounds into the paper. Dude was at least 65 yrs old lol. TL;DR version, great gun and very easy to handle even with its small size just be ready for the magazine cost if you are looking to stock up. (Cabelas has them for 3 for $99 atm though, if anyone was looking for some and $33 each is better than Ive seen many places)

My one overall regret of the Springfields are the cost of the mags and trying to find them (no sporting goods store Ive been to seems to have the right ones, have to order them online) But I guess I got spoiled by Glock parts like others

Pik4chu how does it conceal? I've been thinking about adding one to the stable . I normally carry a Glock 26 IWB.

I got mine today. Sold a Kimber Custom Eclipse ll 10mm and with the $$$ I bought an XDm Compact 45 w/ 3.8" barrel, also got the wife a Ruger LCP 380. It was a good deal as I traded $500 worth of homeraised beef for the Kimber. Ended up getting enough out of it to get the two new ones and a few extras with no cash outta pocket.

It conceals incredibly well especially if you use the sub-compact mag (13rn). Ive been able to conceal it under just a t-shirt and gym shorts before w/o problem and I'm not a very big guy. Ive also concealed it under button front tucked in shirts too and you cant tell its there. It is still a gun you must shoot first if you can because if you have fat fingers (big hand is ok, my hands are rather big but I don't have fat fingers) the gun may not work as well or it wont feel right in your hand but I have no trouble keeping a < 3" circle at 15yds with it. I'm still a 'newbie' in the shooting world so I wouldn't call that a marksman quality grouping but I do better with it than my G17 and Ive only put maybe 1000 rounds through the XD to date. (might have said G19 before but that was a brain fart lol.)

Oh as for ammo I always keep the 13rnd in the gun for better concealment but I have a full size 16rnd mag in my car, bag and backpack that I carry with me mainly for the SHTF I have a bit more avail already loaded but I plan to pick up many more mags for this gun as I love it a lot and I don't think I'm going to be picking up another handgun in quite a while unless its a 22 for plinking. So I would call the XD my permanent primary, I love it!

I'm surprised I havent seen anybody else with a thumb safety model, I suppose they may be rare. Mine is a xd .45 4" service model with thumb safety as well as other 2 standard safety's. Only mods on mine are tlr-1 streamlight and lots of range time.
This is my third xd, saw it at a shop and immediately sold #2 to buy it

Trying to get a pic up to show it

I believe the thumb safety is only on the 45, not the 40 or 9.

I have a friend who is an awesome leather worker who has made me different styles of chaps and a saddle plus I have had him make me a bunch of other stuff. Anyhow, we spoke the other day and I am going to drop off my new gun so he can custom build a set of holsters for mr
