Default CA: Newest Man-Made Disaster

PG&E (Pacific Gas & Electric) would be bought and converted to a public owned utility under California mayor's plan

Quote:
San Jose, California is proposing that PG&E should be bought and converted into the country's largest customer-owned utility amid mass-blackouts and heightened tempers over their role in the state's wildfires, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Just think of the opportunities for the State of California when they take one of the state's 3 primary utilities and turn it from a private sector corporation and turn it into a public government run utility.

The options are endless:

01 New job openings for DMV management & employees, bringing their traditional high quality DMV customer service.
02 Puerto Rico thinks they are the bankruptcy champions. Not even close! AMATEURS. We'll (California) show you how it's done. Or not.
03 Let's see. Federal bankruptcy, 'scheduled' power outages (up to 10 years), extremely underfunded capital plant maintenance, a totally psycho crazy legislature that apparently hates having a stable electrical grid, a governor who lives in a dream world, and oh, maybe already has some of highest electricity rates in the USA.
04 Also, California's state flag should be "NIMBY" (Not in My Back Yard).

What's not to love.....

Phase 1: Create disaster

Phase 2: Pretend there is no disaster

Phase 3: Claim disaster

Phase 4: Profit from said disaster

Phase 5: Leave everyone worse off for the experience

Huh. I thought PG&E was ALREADY publicly owned!

Why would a private business tolerate the blackouts when they could raise their rates and put things in repair? That is what my own Westar energy does. They announce rate hikes, hold hearings, the rate hike passes, and we ALWAYS have enough power.

BECAUSE pretty much all utilities need PERMISSION from the gov't to raise rates. And as socialist Kapital of the US they are loathe to line the pockets of the greedy at the expense of the proletariat

Oh.

In Kansas the power company shows the expenses, it is agreed that a rate hike is needed, and a rate hike will be approved. Pretty much always, though a couple of times there has been debate and negotiation.

The power company knows not to ask for too large a profit and the customers and government accept that a profit is necessary for the company to stay healthy.

I am GLAD that I no longer live in California!

Every time I think California has gotten as stupid as humanly possible, they prove me wrong, and they double down.

At least it will not be my retirement, and my life savings, they will be taxing to pay for this latest mistake.

If the last of my friends remaining in that cess pool would sell out and leave, I would not give a damn how bad they get,

WELL here in Iowa. The bozos running the power company buy into the global warmin nonsense. Start building crazy expensive interruptable power supply (windmills) which remove from production the most productive farm land in the world. Then shutting down coal plants and the one local nuc plant. Supply now is less stable so need to build MORE windmills (and silly dang solar panels). But the silly POS are EXPENSIVE and "can't" be expected to pay for silly envirowackon nonsense out for retained earning so must have a BIG rate increase. No disclosure that will need NG gensets to actually supply electric at night and when the wind isn't blowing.

What made me split my sides was when the citizens of California were required to add solar panels to new homes and such.

Shut down the grid solar panels useless (unless the home owner invested in a battery bank) hence no AC.

I bet you that roasted some folks out on the left coast.....

Here is the HUD response to California's request for Federal money to assist them with their homeless crisis. Secretary Carson's response is priceless and acurate.

This may be a stupid question, but why can't they build the windmills but still farm the ground?

They do in my state. LOTS of windmills in wheat fields, flax fields, etc. etc. Damn eye sores anyway.

Brilliant. Letís take a quality-challenged industry out of the hands of a company with a vested interest in improving and expanding it, and give it to a government so great its own members get arrested for breaking the laws, evading their taxes, and diverting funds passed by popular vote for schools and roads into paying for illegal immigrants to have free healthcare.

What could go wrong?

So glad I left that state.

but these solar panels have no battery backup system and provide no power during grid shutdowns.

Click linky. I haven’t read it yet but it looks important and interesting. I’m too busy listening to our county sheriff’s deputies, on my HAMM radio, evacuating the residents across the river from me. And praying to God I’m not next.
