So, this is a quickie vid from the top of Signal Mountain today.

I live in the town at the bottom of said mountain, so I am home now.

Not really. Cottonwood was so abundant back home that it was my go to for the most part. I really didnt look for much else.

Starved Rock has Cedar and there was also a few down the trail near me. The areas I hiked also had lots of Cat-Tail, and dry grass too. Theres none of that on the top of the mountain though. So I have to learn all new materials.

I do carry a rod of magnesium, so I can really use any material I want. 5000 degrees ignites pretty much everything. I just prefer to use all natural materials that I can harvest from the environment.

Magnesium is not renewable. It will run out eventually. I only use it when its been raining and the only dry wood to be found is inside dead standing material.

The thing is, I want to figure out how to do a bowdrill fire here. That requires a tinder bundle.

[EDIT]
Look what I found!
