Default U.S. Firearm Production Sets Record in 2012: AR-15 Production Up Over 100%

Hi folks,

Given the political implications behind certain types of firearms at the moment, I thought that I'd share this relatively good news. It will be interesting to see what the figures for 2013 will show, but it looks as if we'll be seeing approximately 1 million AR sales a year for the foreseeable future, that combined with the sales of other similar rifles will amount to development of significant proportions:

FREEDOM! That's a just the best news Ive heard in a long time, gun-wise. Been watching/participating in the gun "issue" as long as I can remember being aware that there was a "fight"- politically and socially- over the Second.
Being brought up in an extended family that took guns and hunting for granted, I was luckier than some of my friends... Dad helped me pick my first personal rifle, a mossberg bolt military .22 retired trainer set up for open-sight target shooting. He helped choose, paid the pawnbroker and I worked it off at .50 cents an hour. Best work I ever did.
Eventually I had a Weaver 4X installed and still own that rifle, altho the buttstock is a bit short these days! If I could see it (within the range of the rifle/round), it was dead.
I have no kids so I dunno who's gonna have my guns when Im gone < heavy sigh>. Maybe one of my step-kids, maybe an auction..<heavier sigh>..
At any rate, sorry for hijacking.. I am thrilled to see semi-auto sales rising in spite of the massive media anti-gun efforts and the efforts of social and political LIBERALS. FREEDOM!

I think lots of new AR sales are for people who already have an AR. So I don't think it is more AR owners, just AR owners who want or need more. I am saying this because I don't want you guys to feel like more of the population is going towards pro gun. Stats are good, but make sure you understand what the stats are saying.

How many NEW AR owners do you know?
How many current AR owners bought a new AR?

For some reason this news made me think of this quote from We Were Soldiers Once and Young

Quote:
Lt. Colonel Hal Moore: I think you oughta get yourself an M-16.
Sergeant Major Basil Plumley: Sir, if the time comes I need one, there'll be plenty lying on the ground.

That is an awesome deal! Problem is it is a full build kit, but would be a good learning lesson. My goodness, the AR market is crazy!

Valid point but a better question is how many new owners would become so by way of charity were another "Assault Weapons Ban" to occur?

IMHO, if Repubs win the Senate on Nov10 then I think prices will go even lower. Regardless, Thanksgiving Black Friday deals should be outstanding.

What are the odds the GOP loses the House? I think it's highly unlikely, but if that were to happen, and the Democrats kept the Senate, I'm sure prices would soar again.

It is a given the GOP won't lose the house and isn't even being talked about by the Dems... it is a non-issue.
