Have studied a variety of martial arts over the years. 61 now and started when I was 9. Right now I am concentrating on a combination of Byakuren and Judo/Jujitsu.

I don't think anyone here is looking for the perfect candidate. It would be good to have a decent one though.

28 years in the martial arts (6th degree black belt Okinawan Shorin Ryu Karate, 5th degree black belt in Aiki-te, 3rd degree black belts in Japanese Jujutsu & Judo, Master level instructor in Krav Maga, and H2h combat instructor for the US and other military members). I now work in law enforcement and I am the owner/founder of ARCS Self Defense (Automatic Reflex Combat Systems). All styles are great as long as you train with the proper "survival mindset" and don't get caught up in all the "sporting aspects".

I am partial to simple yet effective old WWII combatives. Check me out at www.ARCSSelfDefense.com

Level 2 Krav Maga, Yellow belt Judo, Brown belt (testing for red in a few months) TKD... Knowing some hand-to-hand combat skills is important when you run out of ammo. :o)

Well it's a purely foreign (American) perspective on thai boxing. Sure I learned the Wai Khru and practiced it, but I didn't really want to. I did it for the sake of my teacher and out of respect for him.

I got pretty lucky that my parents took me to a muay Thai school instead of your typical Karate or TKD school.

Nah... I'm serious. If i have to fight it is only for my safety or that of my family or an innocent victim.

My doors are always open to anyone that is in the area or just passing through. I have been welcomed as a visitor at many places by many people and I always try to extend the same hospitality.

Too funny.

My comment was only in jest as I'm sure ARCS is aware.

Although I started my BJJ training at 36 years old I sure wish I would have thought about it in my early 20's. Wish I had the knowledge and skills today that ARCS has.

I am an instructor of Shaolin Kung Fu (over 20 years exp.) but have also studied and trained in Boxing, Greco-Roman Wrestling, Judo, Capoeira, Karate, Tae Kwon Do, U.S. Marine Corps self-defense and a few others.

Never pass over an opportunity to learn a different art. The diversity is more beneficial than mastering a single method.

Used to be a serious boxer and a recreational wrestler but street fighting was a whole nother game learned in the streets the hard way. Today I'm old, crippled and specialize in tongue lashing, verbal beat downs, oral mayhem and cane fu. Then there is my Dan Wesson .357 if all else fails.
