Remington 700 in .308 is definately the way to go for a general purpose field rifle. But, they can be hard to find since the "customizers" grab them up for super-tuning. Savage 110 is a good shooter also.

nice work on the 700pss, she's beutiful.

i think i'm going to go with same stock i've got on my hs 2000. i like, or more acurately, i'm used to the way it adjusts(locks in tight) and feels.

Default 30-06 and 308

Here is another supporter of the 30-06 and 308 Round. I shot outdoor highpower matches in Wyoming during the early 90's. At a 1000 yards it wasn't uncommon for me to put 10 rounds in a 6" diameter or better on a good day. I shot Springfield A3-03's, M1-A, and M1 Garands.
