Global warming or Climate Change, what ever the buzz word for the week is,is a farce. It's a money grab and a control method. The US government has bills in the works to control ALL WATER. Including that that comes from the wells on your own property. They are also working on controlling ALL FOOD. Including that that you grow in a back yard garden. It is ALL about controlling the masses. The earth has changed it's make up many times over.
It didn't need any help from the human race.

Last time I looked the U.S. had no rain forest. Is that why our army left Iraq, to stop deforestation in South America?

Death to the South Americans!!!

So what happened exactly to all the "global cooling" and "another ice age is coming" of the 1970s?

Jehovah´s Witnesses say that when God crashed the water canopy that the poles instantly froze which is why the animals had food in their mouths.

And then of course due to the increased air pressure pigs could fly as well...

You have overlooked the Olympic National Park, twelve feet per year of rain coupled with a bunch of trees pretty much qualifies as rain forest:

http://www.nps.gov/olym/index.htm

Hell, the entire coastline from Alaska down into California is considered rainforest. Not to mention the Appalachian rainforest on the east coast... What you may have meant to say is that the continental US has no tropical rain forest. What North America has is referred to as Temperate Rainforest.
