Default Body Cameras or other Recording Device

Advertise Here

Without going into too much detail, at some point in the future I will be going into a location controlled by a very powerful and extremely wealthy family who have made threats against me (not recorded but reported to the police and logged). They are, in the eyes of society, very respectable family, and therefore I believe that effective recording devices may act as a very useful deterrent against them. In addition, since I am in the British Isles, basically all self-defence weapons are illegal including pepper spray and knives with a blade larger than 3 inches.

I am therefore looking for a reliable on body recording device. Preferably video and audio although audio only is better than nothing. My inclination is that an overt device would be preferred.. so ideally big red flashing lights, a big sign warning about recording, etc.

The difficult part is I would ideally like the device to be able to directly stream to a cloud upload or the internet - even if it has to do so through a WiFi tether to a mobile phone or something like that. Reason being... it's not much use having a local recording of something if if can just be taken and smashed up.

Can anyone make any recommendations? Thank you.

Not sure entirely whether it meets your needs or not, however, I have used a body cam extensively during travel to Central and South America.

It was not expensive, since anything taken might need to be jettisoned.

Here is the link:

https://www.amazon.com/Veho-VCC-003-.../dp/B0029631VI

It has no "big red flashing lights", but OTOH, it is attached to the front of your jacket - so it's relatively obvious that its a camera. It is NOT a "button camera" or some other surreptitious surveillance-type camera. We were not going for "un-noticeable", we were using it to conveniently record foreign language, interpretation, and activities involved in various work environments.

Anyone you were talking to would likely notice this unit on your outerwear.

The one's we used recorded on tiny 8gb Adata micro SDHC cards, but they were older units. I'm sure you can find a more modern version that uploads via Bluetooth to some other device - but not necessarily cloud storage. You may be somewhere with no wifi. It should likely link to some other storage device on your person.

Last thought: anything critical to your survival, carry two of.

(Walking sticks might still be allowed in the British Isles. https://www.coldsteel.com/irish-blac...tick-2116.html)

Best with it.

From everything I understand, the Axon Body 2 is the standard for LE use.

Yeah I'm confused as to why OP needs to go there to begin with.

Anyway find a rock, and find a big stick. Use rock to sharpen big stick. Keep rock to throw as warning and use big stick to poke. Sounds like thats your only real option for self defense.

Wasn't there a cell phone app that uploads automatically. It was easy to activated, people used it when they were pulled over by the cops.

A visible recording device is not a deterrent, but it does broadcasts your intentions.

You may be better off with an action camera - GoPro or one of the knock-offs like Akaso, etc. Many of them have WiFi and are designed to allow you to stream your escapades to various social media and other cloud sites. They also tend to be a lot cheaper than a 'body cam', and there are a ton of different accessories that will let you attach it pretty much anywhere.

What is "powerful"? Apparently you are in oncegreatbritain but know that in the US/free world "powerful" is NOT a typically recognized construct. Get it out of your head (perhaps along with that entire "royalty" nonsense). Stand up or bow is an easy choice.

The longbow has a long tradition in England. I suppose the ol marxist Sheriff of Nottingham banned them?
