Due to RealLife (tm) happening since last fall, I only got to see the movie last night. I've tried to avoid reading anything about it to avoid any spoilers, since I knew I was going to see it at some point anyways. Bought the bluray yesterday, and had a nice evening by myself.
A few interesting twists, and not too bad. Loved the scenes with the emperor, as I would, being an evil bastard myself...

And by the end of the movie, I just realized I might be too clever for my own good...

To quote myself from a few years back...
Quote:
Rey is awesome, perhaps a little bit too awesome at times. But pretty cool. Cute girl, good actress. Gonna be interesting to see the character development there.
Btw, am I the only one who found her lightsaber fighting style interesting? A style used by ONLY ONE (as far as I've been able to tell) other character in the previous movies...? Thrusts and stabs, akin to Palpatine...

IMO, the Rise of Skywalker introduces a transformation from story telling on film to an extended advertisement for a video game. There is no depth, no character development, to internal consistency. It's just fighting in a way that video enthusiasts find cool.

It did feel a whole lot like playing Lego - Star Wars on the Wii with my kids years ago. Finish a level, move to the next, finish that one, move to the next.

I watched it yesterday on Hulu. I thought it was very good. I was a little confused about the relationships between the characters-based on the previous movie.
I did not like when Rey kissed Ben (I just don't like the actor who portrayed Ben).
