It's the Religion section.

With everything that's going on in the world today, there's a lot for Christians to talk about, in addition to the "usual" back-and-forth between denominations/differing beliefs. Yes, sometimes stuff gets out of hand, but I'm thankful there are still people, who are passionate about their faith, because the "Laodicean" church is predominant, at least in the U.S. :eye:

I try not to instigate or get in the middle of a heated "debate," if for no other reason that limited Internet makes it really hard and very time consuming to write a well-thought-out post and provide good links Sometimes ignoring something is the adult/best thing to do, too. I try to remember there are real live people behind the monikers and posts

Been here since 2009, it goes up and down. Different groups come in and out. Some are "okay" some tell everyone they are going to hell unless you join their denomination and drink their particular religious Kool-aide flavor.

Occasionally things settle down and some really good discussion happens without the religious "chip-on-shoulder" or the agenda driven based crowds.

There really is a dozen or so really good posters that stop in and post some interesting insights and food for thought type subjects. You just have to wait for it.

I'd imagine it's more to do with fear than anything else, ie., fear of what's going on in our world. Fear prompts questions and so does curiosity.

This forum is a great place to grow as a Christian. Many of the posters here are experts in their denomination. So it makes dialoguing with other Christians pretty awesome. Even though people here have a different point of view, I believe they help me grow in my faith.

I would rather focus on tending my spiritual garden and hopefully helping reach the unreached. I was never much for the bickering, even 20 years ago (another board).

Yea! There should be way more than 5 people passionate about the importance of religion to post thoughtfully and regularly.

That's true, but there is a group of some really excellent people that frequent this section. esheldon, Sloth, Eddie, Preacher Boy, A Catholic Thinker, BHU, JL1, Paradox and on and on. Some really amazing people with a heart for the things of God.

We’ve had a bit of a Jude 1 problem here lately, which accounts for most of it.

The crux of the problem is each denomination believes all the other denominations have it wrong, or they wouldn't even exist. So, each denomination will have a different opinion about who are the false, heretical, heterodox teachers/denominations. Unfortunately, disagreement, estrangement, ignorance, etc. get so much traction that distrust, dislike, and even hatred lead to the argument becoming about who's right/wrong and what someone said about/did to someone else, instead of about the theological and doctrinal differences and seeking understanding (not necessarily agreement). Sometimes the discussions here are a microcosm...

I wasn't even necessarily referring to denomination differences... But more to various agnostics, atheists, etc who have entered the discussion.

One was just removed yesterday.

And we have a winner...

And now I ask, how does one rise above this level of consciousness to reaiize this?

"You cannot fix a problem with the same level of consciousness in which it was created."
