Yikes! Jerry has almost all the ones I'd list. The only one I would add (if he hasn't) is Mel Bartholomew's Square Foot Gardening.

World War Z, An Oral History Of The Zombie War, by Max Brooks.
Awesome book, even if you're not so much into the whole zombie thing (and how could you not be?).

Atlas Shrugged and The Art of War are my 2 favorites.

I've read and re-read them both countless times.

Looks like Jerry raided my bookcase. Especially my fiction. I would add Farnam's Freehold by Robert Heinlein, plus the Boy Scout Survival Manual.

As for fiction I really enjoyed a series by S.M. Stirling..the first book is called "Dies the Fire"

The premis is a little far fetched but the writing is top notch and it is what got me seriously thinking of preping. Hope anyone who decides to read them enjoys them.

There is a book called The Good Life written by a bloke called Dorian Amos, he and his wife get fed up with their life in the UK and decide to buy land in the Yukon, this is the story about their efforts to make a fresh start.
There is a follow up book called The Good Life Gets Better where he has shares in a small gold mine. Good entertaining reading and makes you realise that if you have a dream and realy want to you can.
Also a book called The Call Of The Wild(not Jack London) written by Guy Grieves, also about a bloke who lives in the wilds of Alaska for a year and his adventures with moose etc.

An Island to Myself, Tom Neale. Interesting story of a New Zealander kicking around the South Pacific who dreams of living on a deserted tropical island - and actually does it! One of the most interesting aspects I remember is he writes about having to hand-pollinate his garden due to the lack of bees on the island - he used children's paintbrushes and pollinated each of his plants by hand - I recently saw a documentary on public television about colony collapse syndrome and the problems bee keepers are experiencing in the US. In parts of rural China where the pesticides have killed all the bees, they are having to hand pollinate fruit trees in order to continue to have crops. Up until two years ago, I used to have problems with bees in my eaves and in my backyard -I had no bees last year - and have seen one bee - ONE BEE - so far this year. I live next to a 450 acre wetlands preserve in the middle of miles of farmland - the bees boxes have disappeared from the strawberry fields near my home and they have had to plant other crops like feed corn.
