A hellfire missile would be more appropriate.

Let's arm their population. We'll sell guns to the drug cartels, but not to people needing to oppose their government (yes.. sarcasm)?

At this point in time ?
Hell yeah.
If the law no longer applies, it no longer applies. That works both ways.

The USA tried several assassinations when I was growing up. The thing is, the leaders who replaced the assassinated tyrants did not trust the USA, did not want to do business with the USA, and the common people tended to believe their new leaders when they told them that the USA was evil.

There is no bad situation that cannot be made worse.

It can, and will get worse. The difference is, we did not make it worse their own politicians will. Let THEM take the blame.

its clear all this is caused by a collapse of the price of oil. The economy was too dependent on oil so now it is adjusting to a collapse of their GDP/GNP.

You know all these refugees are going to reduce the supply/demand issue. They were too dependent on imports fueled by petrodollars. Much like Syria's war is going to do a lot to resolve the water shortage issues there. You know economies that are resource dependent suffer greatly when that commodity price collapses. The political issues are just fights over resources/capital. The government being socialist is taking care of the government and party first, so the opposition is being forced to flee, as they are getting the short end of the stick because they are detracting from the government agenda, in turn that is causing even more instability and waste by tying up human resource on defence and public security, that could be allocated to infrastructure development and agriculture.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKj-TXJ6_2g

you know anyone in that situation would have difficulty governing a sole commodity nation.

Reports like these are very political. Oil price collapsed so that economy collapsed, so that society is in collapse. It is all tied to oil price. Every other moan is just a political attack.

If you arn't producing your own food, you are in deep trouble at any level of social organization. It is a golden rule.

This is really an example of SHTF ---- heading to WROL --- the gov is flexing against civil rights to preserve rule of law through martial law.

This is one step down from

The government is predicted to crack down

Now that the legislative assembly was replaced with a party selected legislature and the constitution rewritten to a party controlled presidium.

I'm sure it is better than China where there is only 1 choice selected by the party for each spot.

You know that is even better than the US emergency Continuity of Government plan legislative assembly and "regional administators of selected state governors" it is more generous than the US Martial law system. I am sure if there were riots in Washington Newyork etc.. blowing up riot police cordinators with the military in the streets fighting a street war, things wouldn't be so nice in the US government either. You know the US isn't even dependent on foreign food aid that doesn't even feed the whole of the population -- if it were I would bet things would be more fringe in the US with less civil rights.

You don't hear people complain about China day in and day out

Elections in China are based on a hierarchical electoral system, whereby local People's Congresses are directly elected, and all higher levels of People's Congresses up to the National People's Congress, the national legislature, are indirectly elected by the People's Congress of the level immediately below.

I have to say that even the Chinese system is representative of the needs of governance --- even with close to 10% of the legsilature coming from the People's Liberation Army - MILITARY... and the PLA being sworn to the communist party

PLA delegation[edit]
The People's Liberation Army has had a large delegation since the founding of the NPC, making up anywhere from 4 percent of the total delegates (3rd NPC), to 17 percent (4th NPC). Since the 5th NPC, it has usually held about 9 percent of the total delegate seats, and is consistently the largest delegation in the NPC. In the 12th NPC, for example, the PLA delegation has 268 members; the next largest delegation is Shandong, with 175 members.

Venezuela was in trouble before the price of oil dropped. Mostly due to unchecked corruption and too much bureaucracy.

A lot of money goes through the hands of a government, and huge amounts of it never reached its intended destination. And, even when oil prices were up Venezuela was borrowing more.

This kind of info, Venezuela currency are worth less than currency in "World of Warcraft" multiplayer game. According to the site dolartoday.com, which actively tracks the worth of the bolivar on the black market, the bolivar has dropped to 11,185.95 per dollar. Meanwhile, according to mmobux.com, which tracks the value of WoWís in-game currency for sales outside of the game, the lowest sale of 10,000 gold in a real life exchange will get you $1.21.

Another big success bolivarian revolution! Real life money are worth less than game currency
