While they are not from vienna and have 0.00 sausage in them...

...they have protein and some calories and pretty good extended expiration dates.

If you are in emergency mode with two meals a day, they will taste better. Trust me.

I think the consistency is a little different.

Now that you asked, I'm going to have to open a can of each at the same time and compare.

What I found is that they have a little more flavor when heated.

What I found, is the the cans I purchase usually have the peal-off lid.

What I found, is that if you set a can over a heated burner, and get distracted by a phone call shortly thereafter is that these and this heating method could substitute for the other ways that kids build volcanoes for science class.

Be warned, after the eruption, the mess is everywhere upwards... very little will actually land on the floor where it can be reached to be cleaned.

Flavor of the Hormel Vienna Sausages is great in Spicy Chicken Ramen Noodles. Adds just that final bit of Salt you needed! Great on Ritz Crackers. Great fried a minute or two and served with Scrambled Eggs. Makes Powdered Eggs palatable. Great with a Dijon or French's Yellow Mustards.

You don't like 'em? More for me!

The gelatin is great for Glossy Hair and Strong Nails, Girls!

Maybe you could do something with your sausage, don't just eat it out of the can. There are some great simple recipes out there!

That's not fair. Even roadkill tastes passable if you use spicy mustard and saltines. But you are still eating roadkill.

I'm with the OP on this one. I'll leave them on the store shelves for you at the next big looting.

Yeah, I've always thought they were a very special type of disgusting, but I'm thinking the trick to help choke them down if you had to, would be to cover them with horse-radish and slurp them down like an oyster !!

I'm sure that's true, in much the same way time and heat result in giving dirty diapers "more flavor" as well !

While admitedly possible, it seemed that the opposite is what actually happened with WWII GI's opinions of SPAM.

They need lots of deli mustard.you know, the stone ground stuff with a little bit of horseradish.

I just wish that lil' smokies came canned,I would prefer those.

A year ago i bought a whole case of those prairie sausage things.
prolly a 100 cans.
I thought they were supposed to be good.
they aren't.
i ate 1 can
the world will have to end before i eat can #2.
maybe a good barter weapon.
shoot them at the enemy until they give you want.

I wonder if i could shoot them at the space station from a mortar?

I have taken to buying only ONE of anything to test before stocking up. This morning when we were doing our shopping I did pick up a can of Vienna sausages (Libby's) to try.

After reading this thread, I went to my stash and grabbed a few cans out. I know I'm low brow but I don't see the problem with the taste. Good brown mustard, sweet baby rays bbq sauce, or even ketchup or hot sauce will add some zing to help you eat them. I like em right of the can.

Thanks, I saw those at the store, but bought the traditional ones. I will give the chicken ones a try.
