I thought today, being the anniversary of Pearl Harbor, would be a good time to post on this documentary I recently viewed....

IMO it's worth a watch.

Local gent is a survivor, he watched the attack on the Arizona. They couldn't get the guns going on their boat as they were locked down. Says he always had guilt that it took them so long to get into the fight.

My great uncle was a civilian contractor there as a specialized machinist. He worked on code machines until the 70's. Never would talk about that day. After he passed the family found a ton of drawings and sketches he had done in his home and locked away in a trunk.

He lived in San Francisco after the war until his death. While he was cordial he did not do business with true japanese, japanese americans were ok but not anyone from there. Later we heard about some of the stuff he was dealing with over the decades from his code work that he could never talk about when he was alive. Different time and place.
