I am in the retirement plan business and this gives me a little concern as do many things going on right now. I don't think many people are aware of a proposal below going to congress. Interested in your thoughts.

Sadly I'm not expecting to retire at all.
I can't afford school so a career is out of the question.
I can't find a job of any kind right now so saving up for school aint happening either.

I got through about 1/3 of the paper before I couldn't take any more.
Right off the top, the government (Social Security Administration) is going to manage it. That's a red flag for me right off the bat. Right now, Social Security is borrowed against during the federal budget already. This plan would do the same thing - give the Feds more money to spend/borrow now and "pay back" later. I call BS.

Secondly (and maybe this should be first), this nanny state c^4p has to end. I'm sick and tired of having to plan for other peoples' stupid decisions.

There is a very good video on youtube concerning this very thing Murderface.

I strongly urge you to watch it.

Pay very very very close attention to what the guy says, especially about going back to college.

You can do it. Claiming that you cannot do it because you cannot afford it is ludicrous.

Please don't get mad at me for saying that, but anyone who goes back to college and has to pay for any of it isn't doing something right....

I submit that my time and money have been used to support the lazy masses for a couple of generations now.

I paid my taxes.

I worked hard.

I lived for years hand to mouth, barely able to pay my bills so others could live in subsidized housing, drive BMW's, and otherwise live off the government tit.

Now its my turn.

Yes in a perfect world, no one would milk the system and everybody would pay their own way. Just as soon as you figure out how to make that happen you let me know OK?

The masses want Socialism. I say give it to them.

The sooner we have a full fledged Socialist system in place, the sooner it will collapse under its own weight and the sooner we can return to a Constitutional Republic. I'm just helping it along as best I can.

Took 70 years for Socialism to finally fail in Russia.
I don't have that kind of time.

We'll see, giving the sheep the soft easy graze won't be fixing things though.
That will be the problem with an economic collapse. They bleet for more government "assistance", that's how we got the New Deal.

You are missing the point.

The US is fast approaching the wall so to speak with regard to what they can do.

In 10 years they could raise the tax rate to over 100% and still not be able to meet their current obligations.

They could take every penny you make and not be able to pay all their bills. Repeat that in your head a few dozen time Brother, until it really really sinks in.

Forget Universal Health care or any of the other socialist entitlement programs, if they come, it wont take 5 years.

You live in California. You should know what its going to be like. Millions of people used to living on the government tit, and all of a sudden the government just cant do it anymore. California's budget problems haven't gone away, they are just hiding them temporarily. What are they going to do when more people lose their jobs or line up for some other government assistance program?

They simply cannot tax people at a high enough rate to pay for this crap. Its all a house of cards and its just a question of when it falls, not if.

Spoken like a true patriot.

The system cannot be fixed.

It will not be fixed.

I submit that you are living in a fantasy world if you think that anything can be fixed.

There wont be any grand revolution, peaceful or otherwise, in which we return to the ideals of our forefathers.

The Constitution is dead it just hasn't been buried yet.

Too many armchair commandos like to talk about Rambo and such but in their hearts they are just talkers. Nobody would stand up and say enough, why should I?

In truth, the only way to wipe these asshats out is to play their game.

They make the system I just live in it.

There are still enough patriots that would give their lives for the Constitution. When the time comes a few will stand up and fight with every ounce of strength they have in them. We've already been beaten if we say that nothing will/can fix the messed up government we have.

Getting back to the retirement account thingy

The plan calls for all workers not enrolled in an equivalent or better defined-benefit pension to enroll in a GRA,

If the mandatory Health assesment tax doesn't put employers, this will hasten the proces.

The gobberment will claim employers' will pay less for health benefits; but they will pay more in tax, fees and assesments. That on top of the rising cost of utilities straight from the mouth of Odamna.

Here's another gem

Structure. Guaranteed Retirement Accounts are like universal 401(k) plans except that the government, as befits a large and enduring institution, will invest and manage the pooled savings.

Participation. Participation in the program is mandatory

Sound like a congressional wet dream to nationalize all of the IRAs and 401k accounts in the country. Don't think it will be seriously debated or passed.

Heard about, it sucks, and it is just another tax on my hard-earned dollars. What's so surprising? The government sucks, sucks up all of my money. We are screwed and that's the way it is. Don't lose sleep over, just convert your money to "stuff" that you can use.
