I disagree with the author that President Trumps tariffs won't work. But yes there will be pain for US Corps. overseas. And pain for consumer's but how else can you bring home manufacturing. This was started by the Bush Clan and his New World Order gang.

Actually ... I believe Bill Clinton gets a lot of credit for dismantling our economy and shipping it to China. He also closed some military bases during that time period and sold at least one in Long Beach (Long Beach Naval Station), CA to the Chinese. That damaged the California economy is a bad way. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1590822/posts

But the Clintons and the Bushes were good buds and both were dedicated Globalists. No doubt that they worked together to destroy America's economy (as best they could).

IT started with Nixon! Though I will say the majority of it happen during the Clinton years. Nafta was just a smokescreen to allow all the MFG. to overseas. Didn't matter if it was Mexico or China.
Back in the late '80s and '90s, I cannot tell you how many companies I saw close up shop in the North East and move overseas.
While Clinton was putting all the Blacks and lower-income people out of jobs he was also stuffing the jails with them. As they lost any self-dignity with loss of jobs and the influx of the drugs Who I blame that on the Bushe2 and Clinton.

I remember when I was a young man, every little town it seemed had a factory or manufacturing plant of some sort. Companies did not even have to advertise, they just had signs out in front of the plant. Jobs everywhere. Nothing for kids today not even MacDonalds jobs because illegals have all that class of jobs sewed up. These Greasy Politicians sold America out and they are world class traitors.

Vietnam, South Korea, Honduras, etc etc; countries like this will eventually just replace the supply chains that would no longer really apply to China anymore.

Last prexy to deal in cash was Lyndon Johnson. Now it's insider information about stocks, business steered to family members (Hunter Biden), real estate flips, cattle futures, etc.

What Clinton did was traitorous he allowed all the US high tech and computer technology to be exported to China. I am sure he was well rewarded.

Reagon misguidedly wanted us to be a service economy.
Local repub congressman started parroting this idea and was set straight right away.
I think 25% of the workforce was in manufacturing then in this area.

Your spot on and the benefits of sending dirty jobs overseas was trumpeted by nearly every US politician whether they be Republicans or Democrats with only a few holdouts in each camp.
Remember all those corporate presentations on the upside of offshoring and the fiduciary duty to do so backed up by economists from the Chicago school and all the NeoLiberalists.

No more scary than any US tech company working at the behest of the NSA to infiltrate applications and products.

Sure. I think the rule that Vietnam applies says that 27% or 37% (forget which) of the item has to be assembled there to get the 'made in Vietnam' stamp and certification.

And the rest got done in China...
