Default Need an overnight camping spot in So Cal

Just learned I have a free night next weekend and want to do an overnighter. Anyone know a good spot in the So Cal area. My main worry is sites might be taken at the first come-first serve spots. If anyone has a good suggestion it would be appreciated.

If you backpack just north of little jimmy campground in the san gabes, there are spots you can set up for one nighters.
There is water (seepage via pipe) at jimmy springs.
You can camp at jimmy campground, but you will most likely have neighbors.

For an overnighter, a long drive should be avoided making this spot easy.

Another nice hike is sulver springs near chilao in the angeles crest area.

Heninger Flats and Hoegee's Campground. Both are in the San Gabriel Valley area
