However, if it does jam/misfeed, you could clear it it about the same time it would take you to cycle a bolt... so I guess it doesn't matter.
Let me guess...you don't use bolt-action .22 rifles too often. You certainly aren't clearing a jam in a semi-auto in the time it takes to run another round through the bolt-action.

If you want to shoot shorts because of noise then look into shooting CB longs out of a bolt action or single shot.

I have a nice bolt action .22 with a scope that shoots .22 shorts. I used to shoot shorts for plinking and low noise. Can hold more shorts than LR, too. An easy gun for kids to use. Anyway, I'm in WI and obviously I can't afford to ship an inexpensive gun like this, but if someone wants it, let me know.

My Henry lever action takes shorts like a champ. Problem is i love it too much and won't take a penny less than $500 for it. They msrp at $300 new, so you should find a good used one around $200. My advice is walk around a gun show and check it out

I have 2 Remington Model 552 Autos that shoot short, long and Long Rifle flawlessly. One I use exclusively with shorts. But, they aren't cheap like the OP specified. However, since the OP last posted in 2011 this info is probably no longer of use or interest to him.

I was about to suggest the same exact thing! They do also make them with adult sized stocks too, so you don't have to settle for the abrreviated youth sized stock although that's whats most commonly available in stock. Its a single shot bolt action and its a pretty dang handy little rim fire. It will chamber CB Caps, Shorts, Longs and Long Rifles. It would make a sweet little game getter for the survivalist and looks like it could be a lot of plinking fun too. Just not as sexy as the 10/22.

No reason we can't discuss it amongst ourselves.

I also have an M6 Scout that ain't picky either. I use CB caps, Aguila Kolibri, shorts, longs and LR, no sweat.

I just got rid of the ruger 10/22 in favor of the marlin 60. I owned both rifles and with those 50 round magazines for the ruger it just ate and burned through my stash real quick. The Henry 22 is my favorite, and right now the marlin 60 is stock from the factory. I drive a semi and won't be home until this weekend. I ordered all the parts to build that marlin into something super cool, and they're all delivered at home now. But I'm building a survival kit inside the new stock that's laying on my bed. So, expect a new pictures thread from me on monday or so
