My favorite milsurp rifle is my Underwood M1 Carbine. Easy to handle, fairly accurate and easy to reload.

Arisaka Type 99 that my dad shipped home from Okinawa. Great shooter but the ammo is expensive if you don't reload.

First pic includes the wooden box his ship's carpenter made for him to ship it home.

My Mosin-Nagant M44 carbine.

I use it on hogs, to sharpen my reaction time for follow-up shots with a bolt-action & it's my go-to SHTF primary long gun.

The thing, in typical Soviet manner, is built like a tank & is probably the easiest rifle to take down & service that I've ever laid my grubby mitts on.
The surplus ammo has outstanding knock-out power, a near-infinite shelf life & is super-cheap.

And, oh yeah, it doesn't hurt to have a battle rifle with a folding bayonet attached ---- for poking what you just shot to make sure it's not getting back up.

Of all in my collection, the ugliest is my favorite.
A 1956 T-53...it's a beater, but accurate as heck!
I like it more than the M-44.

SKS. The only one I trust. I've had "unfavorable" experiences with other Milsurps.

I have a '58 Romy that looks like crap, but is a pretty good shooter. I have a Norinco that was unissued. Near unbelievable accuracy.

They are two of my SHTF rifles, and the Norinco has replaced my .30-30 as my primary deer rifle.
