^^^^ There's some good stuff in that thread^^^^^^^^^^

What are you trying to protect against?

One thing about it, you will need fresh air to live. Oxygen will deplete and CO2 levels will get too high without fresh air

You will likely want a slight positive pressure to keep contaminants from infiltrating. You will need filtration unless you are just using your shelter for weather related things

If it's nuclear or biological, you'll need a series of filters with replacements on hand and a way to change and dispose of them without contaminating yourself. Typical filtration systems consist of cheap pre-filter (25%), bag filters (65%) and then HEPA. Your HEPA will need to be at least 95%. The same type filtration used for nuclear is the same used for surgery suites in your hospital

If its chemical, media scrubbers work well with the appropriate media like activated carbon or potassium permanganate, the filtration system can also work for chemicals. Scrubbers generally are the same size as your intake duct. Bigger or more surface area gives you greater longevity. The media resides in a box and layered with racks so air can pass thru the media, chemicals are adsorbed

You will need a fan strong enough to pull an adequate air supply through these as they are very high static

Default fallout shelters

Be sure you have enough ventilation to keep the humidity down. A few years ago I helped a friend with the last parts of his shelter. Good set-up it seemed to me. His wife place a lot of canned food and dry grains. Bad mistake. Black mold and rusted out cans in 2--3 years.
